Give Matty No.9
Thinking back through recent years there have been a number of players who have worn the number 9 shirt with mixed success.
The best of all is of course Alan Shearer, but since then players who lack the ability (Shefki Kuqi) and lack the passion (Nonda)have been given the great man's shirt.
The shirt number needs to be given to a player who will score goals, but also be given great support from the fans and give great passion back.With that in mind, we are set for MikeyGamst's first request of the new season. When the squad numbers are announced for the new season... Give Matt Derbyshire the number 9 shirt.
Matty has something that a lot of players past and present lacked, he is a genuine fan of the club and is already a major fans favourite. He has the ability to score 10-15 goals per season and maybe even more.... time will tell on that.
One thing is for sure though, he is a gem of a player that is Blackburn through and through. Seing him score is like seeing your son score at a Sunday League match!!! He will in time be a regular starter for the club and will show loyalty that very few others have. Come on Mr.Hughes, make it happen.
Give Matty the shirt and let him make us all very proud.

Give my favourite Derbs the #9 shirt DEFINATELY agree MikeyGamst. He MORE than deserves it, and would wear it with the pride and honour it deserves (not that I'm saying JR wouldn't as he's a favourite of mine also!!!)
I've said it before, and I'll say it again I CAN see him being a part of the England World Cup Squad in 2010.
