Samba Player of the Month (Feb)

Samba Player of the Month (Feb)
The Player of the Month Award goes to someone new (a non winner previously) for the third month running! Brad Friedel took the crown in December 2006, Morten Gamst Pedersen in January 2007 and with a massive 62% of the vote this time round Christopher Samba claims the award after also being voted Defender of the Month.

Chris "the Beast" Samba has made quite an impact since his £400,000 signing from Hertha Berlin in January, playing a great deal more games than had been expected but Mark Hughes has liked what he's seen and kept him playing, and rightly so.

David Bentley finished runner up with 13% with Brad Friedel (8%), Morten Gamst Pedersen (8%), Benni McCarthy (5%) and Shabani Nonda (4%) all pretty close there after.

So in summary
David Bentley - 13%
Brad Friedel - 8%
Benni McCarthy - 5%
Shabani Nonda - 4%
Morten Gamst Pedersen - 8%
Christopher Samba - 62%

So the search for February's Player of the Month has ended with Samba taking the crown, the current poll is asking, "What was February's top Goal?"

You decide so cast your vote (don't forget you can view the goals before you vote!) and why not have your say on the latest polls findings…

I have the image of Samba now, no longer have to use the unflattering beast image :)

What a signing the beast is looking, signed for a bargain a cult hero already, and this was before he even kicked a ball! A worthy winner of the Player of the Month for February. If the early signs of this month are anything to go by a defender could be the winner again with the Admiral in pole position at the moment following an awesome display against Bolton.

he looks composed, from now on we shoudl refer to him as "The Wall"! after all he did come from Hertha Berlin... He's Big... He's Tall... you'll not get past the f***ing Wall... sa-am-ba - sa-am-ba...

I like it Ex Ewood. "the Beast" implies he may be a little aggressive and over the top as lets face it he's probably a gentle giant! A wall doesn't set out to harm you it's your fault if you run into it so "the Wall" is a keeper for me, nice one Ex Ewood.

I like that " The Wall " has something about it dont it?!?!? Anyway if the big lad continues like the way he has been so far, he's going to push " GOD " for the tag of best bargain, although God was free, u knw wot I mean, should be the making of a solid central defensive partnership, with cover from Henchoz, Zurab and Oojier. Hughes is def putting in place a very strong looking team in all depts. Just need to see Brown get a few games in nets to rate him fully

the Wall is quality isn't. The Admiral will take some beating by ANYONE to be classed as a better signing than him. For me he's one of our best ever signings, without doubt the best free transfer signing.

He'll be in the running for sure. When the season ends I'll be looking for suggestions for players for all manor of "Awards" such as "Signing of the Season", "Goal of the Season", "Player of the Season", "Young Player of the Season", "Most Improved Player of the Season" etc. etc.
