Derbyshire Top Rovers Forward

Derbyshire Top Rovers Forward
Only once this season had Benni McCarthy not won the Forward of the Month Award, January made it twice as the vast, vast majority voted in favour of Matt Derbyshire who rightly won with 85%. McCarthy does join Derbyshire in the overall vote for the Player of the Month however, finishing second with 9%.

Paul Gallagher and Shabani Nonda both ended with 3% each.

So in summary
Matt Derbyshire - 85%
Paul Gallagher - 3%
Benni McCarthy - 9%
Shabani Nonda - 3%

As the search for Januarys Player of the Month concludes with the positional polls now out of the way the current poll is asking, "Player of the Month for January?"

Who will win out of David Bentley, Matt Derbyshire, Brad Friedel, Zurab Khizinashvilli, Benni McCarthy and Morten Gamst Pedersen? You decide...

PLEASE NOTE: Unlike the positional polls this will not be quick fire 24-hour one, it will revert back to its usual 48-hour poll or thereabouts so you are not so pressured to get your vote in quite as quick!

As for what you think, cast your vote and why not have your say on the latest polls findings...

Derbs was a worthy winner, January was a great month for him. February hasn't started well for him though, his injury looks like keeping him out for maybe 3 weeks? Hopefully no longer though.

Question is now, if JR and Benni catch fire, will he get back in the team? Fingers crossed for a swift recovery for Frodo.

I think with JR fit he would have always found it hard to have started regularly alongside McGoalmachine. The lay-off gives Sparky a chance to pair the tww again while he returns. If it works it'll remain that way if not Derbs will come back in. Frodo of the Shire (another good one BomBom!) still have a BIG part to play this season there is no doubt about that.

With reference to the current poll, not that I'm saying MGP doesn't deserve to win the Player of the Month Poll but hopefully what he did yesterday (against Sheff Utd) isn't being taken into account as this was in February wasn't it.

It's an almost certainty that if his progress contiunes they will won't they dazza but he's turned them down before so with him being a Rovers fan so long as we are still moving forward I'm sure he'll do it again.

I think Dazza71 that HDM's favourite is one of the few at our club who has a real burning passion for this club to succeed. If he is not wanted he will go but he is so he styas... did you follow that???

Think you've made it pretty simple to follow Mikey, makes sense to me. What can I say I've always rated the kid and stood by him, now he's coming good I'm made up, gutted he's gonna be out for a while though!

Same thing with Dunn, he never wanted to go, was basically forced out, unless a MASSIVE club came caling, ya know one of those cant turn down deals, like duff (good move that was for him too! LOL now hes suffering in the north east, bless) they will never leave.

And he is only a youngster, if the fans at Ewood are patient I am sure he will go all the way to becoming a first class striker, however if the boo boys have a go if he misses a few it could destroy him.
