Greatest Ever Rovers Squad: Left-Midfield

The most recent Poll continued this search for the "Greatest Ever Rovers Squad - Left Midfielders." The names had been suggested and the votes cast. With the option of these six legendary Rovers left midfielders…

Noel Brotherston
Damien Duff
Kevin Gallacher
Morten Gamst Pedersen
Scott Sellars
Jason Wilcox

You have voted Damien Duff (29%) & Morten Gamst Pedersen (30%) into the Greatest Ever Squad.

Unfortunately Noel Brotherstone (8%), Kevin Gallagher (1%), Scott Sellars (24%) & Jason Wilcox (8%) miss out this time!

Remember the squad can be changed down the line at your request. Simply suggest the player you feel should come out (and why?) along with the man you feel should come in (and again why?) and it will be put to the vote!

Just to recap this squad will comprise of the following:

3 Goalkeepers

2 Left-backs (or Wing-backs)
4 Centre-backs
2 Right-backs (or Wing-backs)

2 Left-midfielders (or Wingers)
4 Central Midfielders
2 Right-midfielders (or Wingers)

4 Forwards

Next up for selection will be Central Midfielders so look out for these soon!

The current poll suggested by BomBom is asking, "which player (Shearer & Hendry aside!) would you plug into Rovers 1st XI now from years gone by?"

Congratulations to left midfielders Damien Duff and Morten Gamst Pedersen for their induction into our Greatest Ever Squad. These players were voted in by you the Vital Blackburn members so what do you think?

Duffer was thought to be a gimmie but it didn't prove too much of a gimmie as he had to battle with MGP all the way, eventually just losing out by a solitary percent! Scotty Sellars (have to admit JUST got my vote over MGP) pushed both all the way but just fell at the last. You can't doubt MGP's quality but I can't help but feel I wish that maybe he'd missed out this time wound and wasn't judged "a legend" quite so quickly?!?!

I agree but I think Pederson derserves his place due to the fact that he is a future Legend - depending if we keep hold of him that long - plus over the last couple of seasons he has done some superb stuff for Rovers. His goals stick in the mind, u know being tap ins and all!
Clint
lol Clint. MGP's been as good, if not better than most of the guys he beat but not over as long a period as some. Hopefully he'll see out his contract b(at least) by which time I'm almost certain his legendary status will be secured beyond doubt. Brotherstone finished well down didn't he but he'll figure higher on the right side, Jas Wilcox was right down the order wasn't he, probably shows just how much it was a case of right place right time? Didn't really amount to much after Ewood either did he.

Dam it!!!! Sellars nearly got in there. I demand a recount!!!

I do think its maybe a bit too early to say Pederson is a Blackburn Great but he's a damn fine player, a couple of years down the line maybe but u cant argue with his input ot the team and its success over the last 2 seasons
Clint
He'll have another chance to stake his claim, wait for the independant adjudicator to come in when the squad is selected and we'll argue the case, think he should have got in too though! MGP will probably be regarded as one of our best in the end won't he.
