Defence Midfield Role for Mokoena

I personally believe, although not everyone agrees that Aaron "the Axe" Mokoena is a reliable performer, who maybe not the most gifted of footballers knows what he can and can not do so will stick to this without often letting you down.

A defensive midfield role, just in front of the back four is the position in which I personally feel he is best suited, 53% believe this. Our style and way of playing rarely allows this, maybe one day it will?

Somewhat unfairly 36% believe that he is maybe best suited to the bench, which I guess if he can't play in a favourable position technically he is even though he will give his all wherever he is played... this just probably wouldn't be enough for a regular 90 minute role in the others he could fill...

So in summary
Right-back - 2%
Central Defence - 7%
Defensive Midfielder - 53%
Not seen enough in any one position to decide - 2%
And for the cynical…on the bench! - 36%

After Benni McCarthy's booking at the weekend he'll miss out at the weekend so with this in mind the current poll is asking, "With Benni suspended what should Sparky do at Arsenal?"

As for what you think, cast your vote and why not have your say on the latest polls findings…

the Axe is a good, honest footballer. Gives his all, maybe one day we'll regularly see him play in his best position as a defensive midfielder, a role he feels VERY well, just not really suited to us just yet.

I do think he;s better than the just for the bench, he has been unlucky wot with Tugay in his favoured position but im sure Hughes will find a spot for him as he has just signed a new deal it shows that the manager rates him and after all with not too many games he was happy to stay, now thats not the most common thing in the Premiership!!

Very true, the Axe's loyalty is another thing to praise him for. He could EASILY have gone elsewhere in search of 1st team football week in week out no questions asked but has decided to stay, and we'll benefit from that.
