'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Getting to Know.......Nick Blackman

A recent trend on VB is to get players past and present to do Q&A sessions with us to share with fans. Next up in the hot seat is Striker Nick Blackman!

1. How and when did you get spotted by Rovers?

I first was at the club when i was 8 but i ended up moving to United as it was closer! and then the 2nd time i came on trial under Paul Ince as he was my manager at Macclesfield and i've not looked back since then!

2. Which Football team do you support and why?

I support United as most of my family do so i was pushed towards them.

(Joe: We won`t hold that against you!)

3. At what age did you decide you wanted to make a career out of football?

From as early as i can remember i've always wanted to be a footballer so that is all i thought about!

4. Who has had the biggest influence on your career up to now?

My mum and dad, they've always given me support through thick and thin so i'll always be grateful to them!

5. You scored quite a few goals out on loan last season, how do you think your loan spell helped you develop as a player?

Getting a run of games helped get my confidence up and as a result of that i was scoring a lot of goals, and also playing in Scotland it is very physical so i learned how to look after myself on the pitch!

(Joe: Good to know!)

6. Is there a player who you aspire to be like in future?

I`ve grown up watching Thierry Henry and for me in his prime he's the best footballer i've seen.. So i've not set my targets high at all haha!

7. What ambitions do you have for the coming season?

I want to force my way into the 1st team and become a regular, as the manager has shown he'll give young players a chance.

8. Which Rovers players are you closest friends with?

I wouldn`t say i'm close with just 1... I`d say i'm closest with Junior, Martin, Myles and Big Chris.

9. What is the highlight of your career so far?

It would be making my premier league debut as it has been wat i have been working toward all my life.

10. If you were not a professional footballer what job would you have?

I honestly don`t no, it`s not something i like to think about!

11. Who has the best and worst cars at Rovers?

Chris Samba is forever changing his car from Roles Royce`s to Porsche`s ...and for the worst i'd say jay roberts as his is always breaking down!

12. Do you play Fifa or Football Manager? If so do you pick yourself in the starting line up?

I only play fifa and i'm normally real madrid get the ball to ronaldo and run!

(Joe: Cheap tactics there Nick!)

13. Any other messages for Vital Blackburn readers?

Keep up the great support!!

Thanks for the great answers Nick. Very much appreciated by all at Vital Blackburn!
