Venky's First Signing should be a PR Agent

Venky's First Signing should be a PR Agent
Since taking over at Ewood, new owners Venky's have hardly covered themselves in glory.

They sacked Sam Allardyce, giving the reason that they wanted someone who matched their ambition, then appointed Steve Kean, a little known coach with no management experience. If I'd known ambition was all they were after, I would have applied myself.

Since then, Rovers have had 15m to spend, 5m to spend and nothing to spend. we've been linked with Michael Chopra, Middlesboro's Kris Boyd, footballing wanderlust Robbie Keane and ex players David Bentley & Crocky Santa Cruz and they've even made a bid to bring in David Beckham on load and launched an audacious bid for Ronaldinho.

At the same time we've also not been involved in deals for Michael Chopra, Kris Boyd, Robbie Keane, ex players David Bentley & Rocky Santa Cruz and has beans David Beckham and Ronaldinho.

And therein lies the problem, we're getting so many mixed messages from the various Venky's owners and they all appear to contradict themselves.

What the club needs now is stability, and we need a good PR agent for the club who can speak for all the owners. Someone to filter all the different messages coming from the people that now run Ewood and make sure that we get a consistent message.

We have a very capable mouthpiece already at the club, his name is John Williams.

Can't understand why Blackburn are willing to pay 20M for Ronaldinho at the age of 30. He's a bit long in the tooth now.

Why don't the Indians let Williams do the talking? He has shown he can be coherent, discreet and endearing...

I guess we will have to wait until the end of January to know for sure if all they suffer from is appalling PR. The worse case scenario would be a case of utter cynicism, using our Club merely as a vehicle by which to publicise their other business operations with Kean's appointment being a cost-cutting measure aimed at putting a puppet in place. We should know better in three weeks' time.

All seems really wierd to me, they don't seem to have much money to spend on the squad as a whole (shopping at 'Boro says it all), but seem to have enough to spend on huge name superstars such as Beckham and Ronaldinho, and were also linked with asking Maradonna to be manager!?!?! I think Kevin e is right, seems like publicity is more important than the football right now,,

Beckham, Ronaldinho etc. are all publicity gimmicks for the Indian press that will never come to anything. John Williams silence on all this transfer news? speaks volumes. It is likely we will end up signing players with Kentaro affiliations, none of who that are available we would really want

It is really disappointing (but perhaps understandable) to see all the negative press Rovers are getting at the moment... If Spurs or Villa or Everton were trying to sign Ronaldinho they would be credited with trying to pull off the signing of the year..... Look at Van Der Vaart at spurs.... he wasnt on Harrys list the Chairman came up with the idea and then mentioned it to the manager... but it was greated as a masterstroke.... Sadly Rovers are an unfashionable club as we found in the title winning years and as we try to break the mould of just managing to stay up and become challengers we get slagged off by anyone with a voice....... As for Steve Bruce and that win was for Sam... dont get me started......

Agreed ChorleyBlue - on the Steve Bruce thing - who does he think he is? He's disrespecting Kean by saying he was extra happy to beat Rovers after the owners sacked Sam - it's got nothing to do with him. Seeing as the fans, and even Williams didn't want Sam to go in the fashion that he did either I'm not sure what point Bruce was trying to make.

We'll see at the end of the month but they could have handled things a little better. Hopefully by then we've signed Bentley, Duff, Warnock and maybe Santa Cruz or Osvaldo. We can hope for Ronnie and Becks but I can't see it.

Maybe all these contradicting stories are a smoke screen and they really do know what they are doing. However I get the feeling that as blue_n_white99 said, John Williams silence is the most worrying thing. Never cared for Steve Bruce but his comments were made to support his mate BFS, all part of Fregies crew. It seems Samba is now linked with Villa so yet more upset. All in all we are currently providing more entertainment to the media than we have done since Hughes left. Unfortunately it is off the pitch and not something that is improving our reputation. I wonder how all this will effect the players tonight against Liverpool?

i agree, should let john williams do all the talking. The chickens are cocking around and contradicting themselves, causing the club to become a laughing stock. As for Steve Bruce, maybe he thought Robbie Savage was still a Rovers players, Sparky signed him and Mark Bowen for us. Still sore after all these years...
