Reflection and Preview - West Brom to Sunderland

A great win away from home against West Brom a few days ago and a rare 3 goals scored by Rovers! A first win for Steve Kean lifted the pressure slightly heading into this weekends tie with Sunderland, but he will have to do a lot more to prove to the Ewood faithful he is the right man in charge.

Kalinic finally got 2 goals and played outstanding against West Brom.. up until the red fog came down and he made a stupid challenge. 3 games out now for Niko! He will no doubt be missed, with Benjani having to come in and replace him. Oh dear.. Lets hope he comes back in the same form as he left! Hopefully MB Diouf and MG Pedersen can carry the Rovers forward tomorrow with a goal or 2 each.

On top of Niko's suspension Salgado is also suspended after picking up his 5th yellow card of the season. We also have an injury list as long as my arm with Grella, N'Zonzi, Andrews, Jones, Robinson, Roberts and possibly Samba all out!

Rovers have a mixed record against Sunderland with 1 victory 4 draws and 2 defeats in our last 7 meetings in the league.

Previous results:

2010

Blackburn Rovers 0-0 Sunderland

Blackburn Rovers 2-2 Sunderland

Sunderland 2-1 Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn Rovers 2-1 Sunderland

Sunderland 0-0 Blackburn Rovers

Sunderland 0-0 Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn Rovers 1-2 Sunderland

2008

It will be a tough game up at The Stadium of Light.. but I think with a bit of luck we can come away with 3 points. Sunderland seem to be a very inconsistent team, lets home we get them on a bad day!

One thing is needed. Keep Darren Bent quiet. If we do that we have more than an excellent chance of winning.

Having said this..

My prediction: Sunderland 1-1 Blackburn Rovers

on 1/1/11, 1-1 seems to be a fitting result. i'll take a win though.

So it looks like it could be a tight game then???

Sunderland have got a strong squad - and are doing well. But it would be epected of them considering how much money they have spent. I am hoping that Sunderland will start to drop off the pace they have set themselves and we could take advantage. A draw would be a good result - a win would be great! I won't consider a loss!

...also it would be nice to win and leapfrog them into 7th spot!
