VB March Player of the Month

Here on Vital Blackburn each month we have a poll (on the bottom right hand side of the page for those that miss it!) to decide who is the player of the month for each month.

For March, we have a new and somewhat unforeseen winner.

Please step forward, Mr Phil Jones!

Phil has come from nowhere (well out the youth team) and cemented his place at the centre of defence at the young age of 17.

Performances against Chelsea, Birmingham, Burnley and Pompey have left the VBers purring and this has been reflected in this award.

In second place was Martin Olsson with Chris Samba back in third.

Results in full -

- Martin Olsson = 31%

David Dunn = 4%

Chris Samba = 16%

Phil Jones = 40%

El Hadji Diouf = 5%

Steven N'Zonzi = 4%

Well done Jonesey!

I'm like you Mr Mikey, you look at the dude and sometimes think "are you sure he's only 17-year-old??" No pressure on Jones but he's a future England Under-21 International (fairly soon) for certain, but could he also be a future England International at Full level??

Sas you're right I think, we don't want to think about selling players but if we have an offer that's to good to refuse he would be sold one day, so he could save and eventually make money and then another "Phil Jones" will come along. That's the way it'll be for us and most other clubs really isn't it.

I think Jonesy has been great. He's played in some big games, against world class strikers, made very few mistakes, and he has been man of the match! If Big Sam gets it right in the transfer market for next season, and he gets a striker or midfielder who can score an additional 10-15 goals we could push right up the league next year.
