Michel Salgado......Not!!!

In what was seen as one of those Sam Allardyce transfers, big things were expected from Michel Salgado, a free transfer from Spanish Giants, Real Madrid. After plucking several stars in his time, Sam Allardyce had hoped Salgado could make become an influential signing, a leader on the pitch.

Unfortunately for Salgado, his match fitness has not been there, and has resulted in little playing time. However, his last outing, he did look much more impressive, so things might be on the up for Salgado.

Rumoured to be on a 45k per week package, VBERS are not impressed, voting the Salgado transfer as a big No No!!!

The club has come out and defended the signing, saying that it has assisted dramatically with merchandise sales, as well as Michel being a fantastic role model and assisting in the development of the younger squad members. SO maybe it was worth it, with the likes of Olsson and Jones emerging, maybe Salgado has had the right influence....

This is our last Hot or Not for the season, unless our 2 midfield signings manage to make a late break into our first team squad. So look out for more of Hot or Not next season!!!

I think the big factor is the 45k wages.....just too much for us without the end result...especially for a wing back! THough hopefully he has played a big part with Olsson, Jones and co

Agreed mate. The big factor in this for me is the wages, if he was on say £10k or somet then fair enough but a squad player for 45k on our limited budgetis not value for money. Prob the worst value for money signing we have ahd in a while!!!

hes an awesome player, maybe not worth the 45k a week, but if you where salgado you wouldnt complain :P. hes a very very good defender, just pants at going forward.

can't help thinking he's come for one last payday!

I'd agree with Mr Mikey, at the moment looking like a very bad "value for money" signing. Come on Michel step it up dude!!

Agreed Merlin - he's a poor man's Ruud Gullit!
