What if...........

What if...........
Despite what many think, Walker, Bom, Mikey and myself do catch up once a month, and have an official VBER meeting. (Dont Tell Bom, we didnt invite him to this months meeting......)

After a long discussion, we have decided to come up with a new topic, What If......

Many things have happened to Rovers over the past 10-15 years. Results have gone our way, against us, players have come and gone, managers have departed, and we do have a couple of trophies to our name.

However, there are many things which have not happened, should of happened or should not of happened. This new topic will allow us to discuss in depth a new subject every week in our forums. A front page article will be put up, with a brief discussion on the topic, followed up with a link to the necessary forum. With a backlist of important, debatable topics, this should prove to be a hot new section. As always, if you do have any suggestions to this, or any other topic, feel free to contact any of us.....

To kick things of, the highly debatable, release fee clauses we have placed in contracts. Damien Duff, David Bentley, Roque Santa Cruz, Craig Bellamy, at one stage, Benni McCarthy, and many others....

Do these clauses give us any sort of advantage in luring top quality players to our club, or is it a sign that the club is willing to allow players to use Blackburn as a stepping stone.....

What if we did not Put Release Fee Clauses in Contracts....

release clauses are just insurance against clubs with more money. Every club does it so they can extract maximum funds for any players they get rid of. Don't think it's necessarily a sign that players are using you as a stepping stone, just that money talks loudest in modern football.

oooo hes got you there FCB I am afraid! A lot of players request them personally so that they have a way out if the fee is reasonable. Player power nowadays isnt it?

Any aspiring player with any real ambition is surely going to dream of playing at the highest level with the 'big name' clubs - if the release clause feeis rached it surely means that players such as RSC have proven their ability and that has to be good for a club like Rovers - The RSC and Bentley sagas also proved that there is nothing to be gained by holding good players back - take the money and bring on new aspiring players - it's the only way that Rovers can grow without a big money owner.
