Getting To Know... Sasman!!!

Getting To Know... Sasman!!!
Here at Vital Blackburn we like to know a lot about everyone. This feature is a way of getting to know each vital member and to ask them their thoughts.

Mikey, Walker (formerly HDM), Roversman and Bom Bom, everyone has been given the interview treatment by Sasman. Last season they proved to be a great success.

Now it's Sasmans turn and next... it could be YOU!!!

So you live in Australia and support Rovers... whats the story?

Ah, probably a question ive answered so many times. Ive been a soccer (football) man my entire life. I would sit up and watch the weekly highlights on free to air tv. One day, i was at a relatives house, (1992, the start of the new premier league), and we were watching the weekly premier league highlights show. Blackburn were first up, cant really remember who we were playing but it was from that moment i was hooked. I watched the rest of the show, but it was Blackburn that got me excited. From that moment onwards, i've been a Rover through and through. As far as i know, im the only Rover around my area, possibly in Sydney itself!!!! SO if any Rover does read this, drop me a line cause i need a drinking buddy.

Apart from Brett, who is your favourite Rover and why?

Vince Grella hehehe. Nah I am a massive fan of Chris Samba. An individual of his size would generally not be noted for their athletecism and pace, so for someone of his stature to do what he does, it really is amazing. I also have a soft spot for Gamst, Dunny and Nelsen, make it the whole team, gotta love em all.

Where do you see us finishing this season?

My heart tells me 5th/6th, my brain tells me a top 10 finish, hopefully a bit of luck could see us steal a European spot. I feel this is a big season for Rovers. If we can manage a European spot, im 100% certain we will make a big signing or 2 in the next season so we can push on. We do have a stronger squad this year in comparison to last year.

Yes David Bentley has left, but i feel this will force Morten Gamst Pedersen to really turn it up a notch. And he sure has got of to a flyer so far. Hopefully Emerton will be back to 100% fitness, allowing great delivery from either side.

What are your first impressions of Paul Ince?

I was surprised. I really wanted a manager with a greater reputation, such as Dick Advocaat, but whether we could afford him or if he would be interested is a different matter. Ince has started well. The media has been trying to bash us with all this disharmony in the squad, but Ince has handled it well. Only thing i would have done different is sold of Benni Mac. I like Benni Mac a lot, but he is a lost soul at the moment, and i dont see him regaining his goal scoring finesse. 9 mill would of been great, and Derbyshire could of been put up the pecking order

Anyone you would like to see us sign before Sept 1st?

Well i was going to say my boy Vinnie Grella but thats done. Bresciano would be great, would mean a change of formation but hey, could work. In terms of non Australian players, Ibrahim Kargbo would be a solid defender, currently playing out of Belgium, Ryan Taylor from Wigan would be a fantastic right back, possibly a cheeky loan bid for Nani from Man U or Carlos Vela from Arsenal. Ryan Taylor and Vela are the stand outs there

Tell us something about yourself that we don't know?

I am a crazy member of the St George Dragons Red V army. These guys are my favourite Rugby League team in Australia and we travel all around the state supporting the boys. Also i left my own 19th birthday a few years back to watch Rovers in Premier League action, talk about commitment!!!!!

And finally, if you have one wish for the season (it might not be Blackburn related) what would it be?

One wish for Blackburn would be a top 6 finish, or a solid top 10 finish with cup success!!!! Also Grella to prove me right!!!

One wish apart from Blackburn would be a successful year for my brothers in their studies and everyone to enjoy their lifes with their families.

Wait gotta have another wish, for Vital Blackburn to develop, gain more active members, and be a leader in the Vital Sites.

Keep it up lads

50 % Emerton 50 % Grella!!!!!!!

Great stuff from the Thunder from Dow Under.

We will be doing these interviews with every Vital Blackburn member at some point, so don't assume you are safe... because you are not.
