Blackburn's Championship season continued with a two-nil win against Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

After a goalless first half when Nathan Baker saw red, for his second yellow card, Blackburn took advantage and went ahead when Grant Hanley (59) volleyed home from his defensive partner Shane Duffy's knockdown just ahead of the hour.

With four-minutes to play, when Aden Flint fouled Markus Olsson, Rovers had a penalty and a chance to make sure of the points with Ben Marshall (86) doing this as he beat former Rovers 'keeper Frank Fielding in the Bristol City goal.

Blackburn could have been ahead in the first half but Fielding denied Duffy with Hope Akpan, after his first goal for Rovers in the draw with Sheffield Wednesday the week before, seeing his follow up cleared off the line!

The closest, when Rovers were one-nil up, the Robins came to forcing an equaliser came from Elliott Bennett with his effort deflected wide.

Blackburn moved up to 13th in the Championship as well as remaining unbeaten under new boss Paul Lambert.

The other results this weekend were as follows:-

Saturday 5th December 2015
Birmingham 0-2 Huddersfield
Bolton 2-3 Cardiff
Brentford 2-0 MK Dons
Brighton 3-2 Charlton
Bristol City 0-2 Blackburn
Burnley 0-2 Preston
Leeds 2-1 Hull
Nottm Forest 3-0 Fulham
Rotherham 1-2 Wolves

Sunday 6th December 2015
Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Derby

Looking at these results the stand out ones have to be the wins for Huddersfield, Brighton and Preston.

A first win for Huddersfield under new boss David Wagner was secured at St Andrew's when Town beat Birmingham, who dropped out of the top six, two-nil to themselves move out of the Championship relegation zone.

The Brighton win, which sees them retain the lead in the Championship, over Charlton wasn't a surprise but with the Seagulls two-nil down in the second half on that note it was! This fightback saw them score twice in the final five-minutes to complete the comeback to win three-two at the Amex Stadium.

Burnley's unbeaten run was ended by Lancashire rivals Preston with the Lilywhites, causing what must be viewed as a surprise win, earning the points against the Clarets with them going away from Turf Moor with a two-nil win.
