Torres Sinks Rovers (Again)

2 - 1

3 goals in the space of 6 second half minutes provided Liverpool with a much needed win against a lacklustre Blackburn Rovers outfit

Rovers were forced into a reshuffle, with Samba and Nelsen replaced by Jones and Givet in Central Defence.

With both teams struggling in the league, a tight encounter was expected, however, it was anything far. Liverpool dominated, from start to finish, with only the efforts of Paul Robinson, and a deflectd goal for Diouf keeping Rovers within sights of a point....

It was all Red from the outset, Gerrard, Torres, Joe Cole and Kyrgiakos deciding to find some form, running the Rovers defence ragged. Meirless was first to try his luck, blazing wide, whilst Joe Coles strike was amazingly saved by Robinson.

Liverpool continued to apply the pressure, Robinson denying Gerrard from point blank range. Rovers offered little in attack, with Diouf being the main threat, and Gamst wasting every set piece. Jones made a desperate intervention to prevent Torres getting through, Roy Hodgson in disbelief at how it was 0-0 at the break....

The second half saw the game explode. A Gerrard corner found Kyrgiakos, his powerful header finding the net after Olsson couldnt clear of the line. 1-0 Liverpool

Rovers though hit back immediately, a Benjani run found Diouf free, his shot striking Carragher and into the net 1-1. Though it was not even for long. Gerrard found Cole who released Torres, scoring yet again against Blackurn. 2-1

Then it all went quiet until Hoillet came on for Dunn, turning it into a 4-4-2. All that meant was Blackburn had another man up front when the ball was sent 80 yards up field......

Rovers couldnt find an equalise whils Liverpool did enough to hang on to the win

Star Player

Paul Robinson

Kept Us in the game with some world class saves. Really on form and would be disgusted with the poor marking

I'm getting a bit pee'd off with it all now, i can just about take playing this way if we are winning, but we are not, i feel like tearing my hair out!! I think somebody suggested it the other week, i'm gonna start following the Women, top of their league!!! Big Sam sort it out!!!

i'd say jonesy had a decent game, but givet may really need a break, and emo of course. olsson was very promising when he ventured forward late in the game. it all came down to the manager. if we keep playing like this, he may lose the player soon. this is exactly the situation i imagine us getting into when we hired big sam; great for scrapping out the relegation battle but stuck in limbo going forward.

Just seen sam's interview after the match. He thinks injuries to Nelsen, Samba and ROBERTS have crippled us and that if we had these 3 players in the side we might have done better. Maybe we would have been better defensively but we should not need roberts to win us games with the talent we have in midfield. I am beginning to fear that some players might want out because they cant be enjoying the style of football they are currently playing. That must be the easiest game Liverpool defenders and goalie will have this season

to be honest.. sam lost us that game.. we need 2 strikers on the pitch.. 4-4-clucking -2

Totally agree with everyones comments along with your post. Something needs to change and I'm praying Sams heart gives out as that's when our season started last year!

Starting to worry a bit now. Another toothless performance and yet again the only goal we manage to get was a bit of fortune that on another day woulda been cleared off the line. One shot on target the whole game. Not good enough Big Sam in this league. Chelsea next and i think if we use the same negative tactics in that game it will be zero shots on target and at least 3-4 conceded.

Oh yeah and Sas are you ok mate? Grella was on the pitch and actually played OK and you havn't even mentioned it?! Haha
