Newcastle v Blackburn

Newcastle
vs.
Rovers

St.James Park

Crisis club Newcastle take on Blackburn this afternoon. Should be a tasty game. You'd have had to have buried you're head in the sand not to realise what is happening at Newcastle at the moment.

But for whatever their problems Blackburn are notorious for ending team's bad runs - something we need to cut out.

Newcastle will have caretaker manager Chris Hughton in charge for the last time before interim manager Joe Kinnear takes over.

Rovers on the other hand will have to get off to a good start and try and make the crowd turn on the home team again.

Vital Quotes:

Newcastle Team News:

Martins, Beye, Viduka, Guthrie, Smith, Barton and Enrique are all out for varying reasons.

Guthrie is banned for his horror tackle on Craig Fagan last week and Joey Barton is banned for being Joey Barton.

The rest are injured so expect Cacapa to continue in central midfield.

Player to watch: Michael Owen

Believe it or not no-one else has scored for the Toon since March!

He is a constant danger and has a good record against the Blue and White Army.

Rovers beware.

Rovers Team News:

Rovers have Axe and Benni as doubts but Keith Andrews is available after being cup tied in midweek.

Dave Dunn, Vince Grella and Steven Reid are all definitely out.

Paul Robinson is out for two weeks so Jason Brown should replace him between the sticks.

Player to watch: Carlos Villanueva

Carlos Villanueva - Already a cult hero and has a dynamite left foot. If he starts or comes on as a sub, he will be a threat.

Match Facts & Stats

Rovers are aiming for four wins in a row v Newcastle home or away.

They have not conceded a goal at St.James since 2004.

Newcastle are looking to arrest a silde of 3 defeats in a row.

Ref Watch:

Steve Tanner.

Match Prediction:

3-1 to the Rovers. I am being optimistic again but I feel we have the tools to do the Magpies some damage. The scorers at a guess will be Morten Pedersen, Steve Warnock and Matt Derbyshire.

Next Fixtures:

An easy fixture - Man United at home!

I just hope we dont live up to our "runbusters" tag and taste defeat today. But I am confident we can do the business.

So we win and you are still not happy? We were great in the first half, Carlos Villanueva was excellent. Ince just picks the team based on who will do the job for him not based on who his mates are... sooner you grow up and learn that Oz youll be better off.

I don't think Oz's comments are too controversial. Picked the midfield, credit where credit is due. I thought the ref had a poor game tonight. Lots of 'political decisions'. That yellow for Nelsen was totally over the top, and then, when he should have had a second, I think the ref realised that he would have sent him off and turned a blind eye. Likewise the penalty - was there any contact at all? Just a reaction to Olsson's goalkeeper impersonations of the previous attack (when he was pretty clearly pushed, but not according to the newcs). So my unlikely point is, Mikey and Sas, like the referee, you're comments have been flavoured by previous decisions, lol. (Am I really defending Oz?)
