Friedel Extends His Rovers Contract

Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Brad Friedel has signed another contract extension that will see him stay at Ewood Park until the summer of 2010.

By the time that deal runs out it will have seen the former United States International goalkeeper complete ten-years at the club following his FREE transfer signing from Liverpool in 2000 (Bradders is probably the best FREE transfer signing EVER!!!). When the new contract was offered to Bradders he admits it was not a tough decision to make.

Friedel told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: "I'm delighted to have extended the agreement by a further 12 months. It was not a difficult decision to make.

"Blackburn Rovers is home to me. This is my club and I have a special affinity with it.

"When you sign with a club, you always hope that it will turn out to be long term and that has certainly proved true for me here
."

The 36-year-old holds the Rovers Premier League appearance record, surpassing Tim Sherwood in November 2007, and has started EVERY Premier League match in the past four seasons, and I wouldn't bet against him starting EVERY Premier League match in the next two to four seasons either as it wouldn't surprise me if Bradders signed YET ANOTHER contract extension before this deal (or when it) runs out!!!

Bradders is quite simply the BEST goalkeeper Rovers have ever had, and quite possibly ever will have. He could probably walk into most other Premier League teams sides, and has always remained VERY loyal to the club, when he could have easily left.
It's SUPERB news that he has committed until 2010, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was here for even longer!!!

only 36 thought he was older than that well he looks older
mick66owl
Good on bradders, many years to come thats for sure, he can do it

He might look older but he certainly doesnt play like it. He is without doubt the best keeper this club has ever seen. I remember watching Flowers playing and watching him in awe in the blackburn end as he was a great shot stopper but Brad can do the same but has an excellent all round game. there is not one weakness in his game. AND WE GOT HIM FOR FREE LMFGDAO!!!!!!

I have to agree that Freidel is just simply - Brilliant!! Any goalie we get in to take over from him in future years will have no better teacher than Brad

This is quite simply fantastic news. The best goalkeeper in Rovers history and IMO the best goalkeeper in the Premier League today. His comments show why we love him as well.

How the bin dippers must be regretting letting him not only leave but leave for NOTHING (especially when you look at some of the ***** they've had since him!!!)
Hughes Da Man
Isnt it just HDM, to be fair, weve had our fair share of top notch keepers in the premier league, Flowers, Given, Filan, Kelly and Friedel. Just no one mention Alan Fettis!
BomBom
Quite simply the best free signing EVER!!!
MikeyGamst
Some of the VERY best in Premier Legaue history there surely, with Bradders at the top of the tree?!?!
Hughes Da Man
good move, good keeper and he seems settled enough to stay for ever!

For value for money, for consistency and for saving Rovers collective asses numerous occasions AND for scoring a goal against Charlton, he deservedly has the title of best free signing ever, i concur Mikey
BomBom
