Keita Sold To Hamburg

Blackburn Rovers youngster Mamadi Keita has left Ewood Park to sign for German club Hamburg.

The African born youngster was raised in Germany and came over to sign for the Academy side from the Bundesliga, so after impressing Hamburg during a short trial earlier in the month the 18-year-old has gone back to Germany. Keita came to Rovers with a HUGE reputation but suffered a bad injury early in his time with the club, and although he signed a professional contract with Rovers last year he hasn't been able to make the step-up to the first team and signed for an undisclosed amount on the two-and-a-half year contract on Thursday.

Hamburg's Director of Sport Dietmar Beiersdorfer said: "Mamadi is a former Germany youth international who will firstly be integrated with our reserve team.

"At the same time, he will be a potential first-team player too
."

Meanwhile Rovers also allowed another youngster, Rostyn Griffiths to go out on loan to Scottish Premier League strugglers Gretna.

19-year-old midfielder Griffiths has been a part of the Rovers reserve squad, but as yet the Australian Youth International is showing no signs of breaking through into the first team squad.

It's a shame to see Keita leave, as I did have high hopes for him but once again in Sparky we trust. Maybe the injury took more out of him that first thought?!?!
I've not seen Griffiths play, (and maybe I am being harsh) but I'd be surprised if he had a future with us?!?! Can anyone else tell me otherwise?

Woot Mr Rostyn Griffiths, this kid has lots of talent, but i dont think he is a premier league player, hope he proves me wrong. Would be more suited to the Dutch game

Seems like we have ushered out quite a few promising youngsters this window as well as a couple of first squaders. Anywone else worried about strength in depth?

RM, i concur, we didnt sign anyone, yet have seen a few prospects leave, both on loan and permanently, it is a concern but we have to place our trust in Hughes as he has done nothing to make us think otherwise so far during his tenure.

It is sad to see what was another promising youngster leave but, their must be a factor behind him being sold otherwise hughesy jut wouldn't have sold him. By the way was their a fee involved or did he leave on a free
Big Man up Front
I think Hughes is trimming the wage bill guys. Lets face it... we didnt NEED to sign anyone, it would of been nice but not an essential. We'll be in better shape come the summer and I have no doubt we'll sign Koumas.

Please God, what is with this Koumas link, i dont rate him, so much better out there, do i even have to mention Bresciano, or even Grella. Grella is in the same mold as koumas. If wigan get relegated, id snap up Ryan Taylor, awesome Right back, allowing Emo to even slot in CM

Another really fine prospect is allowed to leave - M Keita - could he not have gone out on loan too? He WILL be a potential first teamer with Hamburg. He was with us too. We let too many of these youngsters go. If we had just signed him I would have been delighted. The same is true of Joe Garner. MH is a shrewd coach, but something is not quite right. Rostyn is good, but it is too early to tell his true potential. For goodness sake lets not release Alan Judge PLEASE! He is the next boy wonder.
