New Contracts For Rovers Duo

Blackburn Rovers have handed new contracts to two of the clubs Irish youngsters.

20-year-old defender Tony Kane has agreed a new contract to stay at Ewood Park until the summer of 2009. Despite impressing for Cercle Brugge (our feeder or partner club) and Stockport County during loan spells the full-back is yet to make his first team debut for Rovers. Kane has however represented both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland at various levels up to Under-21 level, and was last year part of the senior Northern Ireland set-up.

Another Irishman (and also a defender) Gavin Gunning has signed his first professional contract with the club. The 17-year-old Academy skipper has assured himself of a long-term future at Ewood by signing a contract to stay until 2010.

It is good to see these two tied down, HOPEFULLY they will not become other youngsters that are always promising yet fail to deliver, or even get a chance?!?!

I am more confident about Gunning. He apparently has been having a stormer for the youngsters and the reserves. And we had to fight off Man U and Liverpoolto get him if you remember?
MikeyGamst
Yea i do remember mikey, hopefully they do get a chance and not end up at lower league clubs like a lot of our youngsters
sasman
Gunning is only a young lad but some times giving these peeps a baptism of fire can be the answer.

Hopefully so dude, I'm VERY MUCH looking forward to hopefully seeing Gunning (soon?!?!)

Gavin Gunning has been a mainstay of the reserves for a few seasons now and Tony Kane has been there or thereabouts with regard to getting in the first team but, the disappointing thing for me is that neither Kane nor Nolan has seen that opportunity present itself and eventually, especially considering Kane is now being thought of in international selection, they will grow tired and frustrated and look to move on, much like Keita and Pezzoni have.
BomBom
Well if they arent gonna improve what we have already then surely its a good idea to let them move on??? Keita and Pezzoni did have talent but who knows whether they would of made the grade??
