Brown Extends His Rovers Contract

Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Jason Brown has extended his contract with the club. The 25-year-old has signed a new three-year contract that will take him though until the summer of 2011.

The Welsh International, formerly with Charlton Athletic and Gillingham has made just one appearance for Rovers in the past 18-months, this being his substitute appearance against Wigan Athletic when he has to come on for the injured Brad Friedel. He became an instantly hero as he saved a penalty and we went on to win 2-1.

Despite his lack of first team football the Rovers number two (behind the awesome Friedel) has shown loyalty to the club that brought him into the Premier League by signing the contract offered to him, and shows that he is prepared to remain even more patient and learn from Friedel.

I'm very happy to see Brown extend his contract as I do think that he has the makings of a VERY good goalkeeper, just keeping him happy could be the tough part, but he knows he has to be patient as a goalkeeper like Bradders WILL take some shifting.
Hopefully Bradders will stay for MANY years yet, but in Brown (and Fielding to name but two) we seem to be well set for a goalkeeper to come in and take over when the day finally does come and Bradders calls it a day.

yeah HDM we have so many goalkeppers in our ranks one of them is bound to come good! but at 25 Brown is still quite young and i think he will peak at around the time friedel does call it a day which means we will be fine and he will be well placed to step in.
