Roque Has A New Target In Mind

Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz has reassessed his goalscoring target for this season. Having already achieved what he set out to get when he signed, he now wants more.

When the 26-year-old Paraguayan International striker arrived at Ewood Park he targeted 15 goals in all competitions, his strike at Villa Park on Saturday was his 15th already since his BARGAIN £3.8 million switch to Rovers from Bayern Munich last summer, so he has upped this to the 20-goal mark now.

Santa Cruz told the Lancashire Telegraph: "When I first signed, I set myself a 15-goal target so I'm very pleased to have reached that with a few games still to go.

"I'm looking forward now to scoring as many as I can between now and the end of the season.

"I'd like to get 20 and I think that is possible because the team is improving all the time, and they will always give the strikers the opportunity to score goals
."

I can't say it enough times WHAT A SUPERB SIGNING Santa has proved, I never doubted his ability, and constantly said he was World-Class before his arrival, and I think it is fair to say he had proved this.
He should not go on to get AT LEAST 20 goals, and if he does, the more on top of this he could get the better our chances are of getting into the UEFA Cup (at least!) next season.

I can't believe you boys got him for that little. He is awesome, and i've always thought so. Would've thrived at any of the teams at about our level (Villa, Pompey, Blackburn, Man City, even at Everton i think). I like his targget setting as well, just upped it by five, not too much. Good on him, and now we don't have to play you again, long may it continue.

Santa has been a revelation, if only benni mac had picked up his fair share of the goals aye lads

There is still time for Benni. I'm pleased for Santa and I hope he can reach his new target. You never know we may even be reading about him setting a new one soon. A couple more against Everton on Saturday should help his cause.

Too true sas I am afraid. If Benni had played how he did last year we'd be 4th by now.... As for Santa the only reason we got him cheapish is because of his track record with injuries... but to be fair his talent is never in doubt.
