Nelsen Merely Needs To Rest

Blackburn Rovers skipper Ryan Nelsen merely needs rest, and not further surgery as had been feared.

It was feared that the 30-year-old New Zealander (who has been dogged by hamstring problems for the past 18-months) would be set for a further extended spell on the sidelines, but thankfully he will not need further surgery (having undergone what is described as groundbreaking surgery in January last year) he has merely been told that he needs to rest as a bone projection is aggravating a tendon, as Rovers chairman John Williams has explained.

Williams told the Lancashire Telegraph: "I've been told the scans have shown up what's called a bone projection, which is aggravating the tendon, but nothing that points to an operation.

"The preferred treatment is rest and I think we're probably talking about a couple of weeks
."

Sitting it out for a few weeks is MUCH better than SEVERAL months!!!

This is GREAT news, as although God might not have been on his best form recently and his fitness has laboured I think it is safe to say that we DO miss him when he isn't playing and WOULD have missed him more than people had thought we would!!!

I really hope the rest does the job, id rather if he needed surgery now, rather then resting him for a few games then him getting injured later on
sasman
just get him back to 100% and we will be in much better shape with him at his best
