Khizanishvili Signs New Contract

Blackburn Rovers defender Zurab Khizanishvili signed a new three-year contract to stay at Ewood Park.

The 26-year-old Georgian International skipper will now stay with the club (contracted with them at least) until 2011, and has signed this contract despite being limited to merely a handful of appearances this season, making only three starts.

The fact that he has signed this contract despite this is promising, as it shows he does want to be here and is also a good sign for the future, as he is still only 26 so has plenty of time ahead of him, so he must know he has a role to play, and quite possibly a major one at that.

Meanwhile, as one player commits his future, the Ewood future of another remains uncertain as it is understood that a German Bundesliga club wants Maceo Rigters, but only on loan.

24-year-old Rigters, who arrived with VERY big hopes last summer from NAC Breda for a bargain amount has struggled to make any kind of impact, and has rarely featured this season so it is expected that he will go out on loan before the transfer window ends, and most likely for the remainder of the season. Several Championship clubs have shown and interest, with an interest from clubs his native Netherlands also being mooted, we can now apparently add Germany to the list?

It's good to see the Monk tied down to a long-term contract. I think that he has been unlucky not to play more this season, but he still has a big part to play in the future here so it's good that he has committed.
Sending Rigters out on loan will be good for everyone. I didn't expect him to play much this season anyway, but when he has (which hasn't been much) he hasn't looked as sharp as I would have hoped. So send him out on loan and get him back fresh and hungry for next season.

The monk's looked shocking every time I've seen him this season, but that could just be because he hasn't played much. As for Rigters, I say send him out on loan, but not to the championship.. maybe we could offer him to Derby or one of the other doomed clubs with a fistful of cash. If not German or Dutch leagues might do the job, as long as he's playing every week. I still have big hopes for the lad

i thought the monk looked decent in most of the games (obvious exception being man city when petrov tore him a new one on several occasions) so im glad he is staying-im getting the feelinthe we will never see maceo in the rovers team properly- by that i mean next year he will come back from his loan period still get no football and then will just want to move!

very good news he is a very good player and obviously loves the club right now

TO be fair to the monk, every time he has played at CB this year he has had a very good game. This is where he should be playing all the time, particularly with it looking like Nelsen will be out for a few weeks.

Monk needs time on the field, whether he gets it or not is a different story. He fits in at CB, definitly not on the Right
