Flynn Completes Rovers Move

Flynn Completes Rovers Move

Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of Johnny Flynn, and he becomes the first signing of the January transfer window.

The 18-year-old has signed for an undisclosed amount from Ballymena United and has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Rovers. His former Ballymena manager Tommy Wright was sad to see him leave but rates him VERY highly, rating him as the best teenager that he has seen in the Irish League for some time.

Wright said: "I am reluctant to talk up young players, but in my opinion Johnny Flynn is the best teenage defender I have seen in the Irish League for some time. He is composed, mature and calm on the ball, and he is also a good defender.

"I think Blackburn have got a very talented defender who is good in the air, has a nice range of passing and has good physical stature. He will also improve and develop with age
."

Rovers chairman John Williams is also pleased to have Flynn on board, he told the Lancashire Telegraph: "He shows a lot of promise and we think he's one for the future."

If anyone thinks that they will see him this season I think you will be in for a surprise, depending on how good he actually is I'm not even sure we will see him next season? However, IF Sparky thinks he is that good we WILL see him at some point if he develops as it is hoped he will.

he'll be in good company... when are we going to see more of Martin Olssen? I think he should play left back and see if Stevie Warnock can take over from Peds

Peter has been banished to the reserves NEVER to return, he'll be sold this month or in the summer I think, shame as I like Sergio and think he's deserved a chance. MGP has been ***** at times over the past year or so, yet he still keeps playing. But as said he WILL get better (hopefully!!!)

Dont write Serg off yet guys, I think there is more to come. Gamst will get better as FN1 says all he needs is a goal. I havent heard of this guy ever but the way he is being talked about I reckon we could be in for a good en in the future (like HDM says though, prob not this season).
