'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Derbyshire The Rovers Saviour

Blackburn Rovers striker Matt Derbyshire came off the bench to rescue a point for us against Middlesbrough on Saturday, and manager Mark Hughes was relieved.

With time running out and Middlesbrough looking more likely to increase their 1-0 lead than we were getting back into the game, Hughes turned to Derbyshire who came on and duly slotted home the equalise, much to Sparky's relief, although he knew what impact Derbs could make.

Hughes told the Lancashire Telegraph: "Whenever Matt comes on as a substitute, invariably he has an impact, and that's why he's such a good player to have available to you.

"He's always looking to get on the end of things in the box, and he's nice and sharp, and nice and dynamic, and thankfully the ball broke to him and it was a good finish in fairness.

"I thought he tucked it away very calmly and you hope at that point you can go on from there.
"

Derbs is a goalscorer, this is what he does and he DIDN'T let us down on Saturday, but then again does he ever?!?!

ah mr blackburn himself scoring the equaliser have to say i really want matty to get some more game time- he doesnt mouth off when he isnt playing, he is a goal scorer, and he loves the club as much as the fans and the delight on his face everytime he scores for rovers really does restore my faith in football, with all the money grabbing whores in the game these days he is very refreshing.

It was a tidy finish to be honest, on the volley, made it look so easy. Lets hope he sees some more game time

I swear if he was getting as much game time as Agbonlahor then I think talk of England would be coming
Bents4eng
He is the future number 9 of our club. Great talent.
FreidelNo.1
He is crimianlly under used as every time he plays he never lets anyone down. He is local born and bred and the fans absolutely love him... lets see some more of him.

Im sure he doesn't want to have the label - Super sub - does you no good in football! Its unfortunate that he has Santa Cruz and Benni ( we are all aware of wot he can do, just the memory is fading a bit lol ) ahead of him at the min, but he has time on his side, I just hope he is prepared to wait, cos it would be a massive blow for Rovers to lose him! A certain England International in the making!!

I knew when he came on we were in trouble. Having missed a stackful of chances, and then to see someone like derbyshire entering the fray, was only ever gonna bring one thing.

No one wants to be a super sub, come on Sparky give my boy a run in the team, yeah he is one for the future but he isn't a young youngster anymore. Play him and you will reap the benefits (as will England, I agree with Bents4eng.)

He wont ask to leave, that is the beauty of Matty.
