Hughes Eyeing New Signings

Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes has made it clear that he DOES want to pick up some new signings this month.

So far the transfer activity at Ewood Park has been quiet, well in as much as the only players involved in any movement have been going out of the exit gates. Rovers have been linked with several players but as yet nothing has happened but Hughes has expressed his aim to buy, and sooner rather than later.

Hughes told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: "We are in the market, we are looking for players and if we can do something sooner rather than later, then that settles everybody down.

"It does get harder to find the right players. The quality that is needed now to improve my squad and my team is exceptionally high. Those players don't normally come onto the market in the January transfer window
."

With the often over inflated prices involved, with funds limited to Sparky this makes his job even harder when it comes to new signings so we can't compete with others in that respect but he will keep looking and hopes to bring players in to help carry on the season which despite a few ups and downs is going along very nicely.

He added: "When you look at some of the prices that have been paid in the January window, we can't compete with that price.

"But we keep going. We are doing exceptionally well at the moment and we are pleased with our form and our position. There are a lot of games to play and a lot to look ahead for
."

When it comes down to a bidding war we DON'T have a prayer against others, but if we move quickly with targets we identify and Sparky works his magic he will get in some players before the end of the month.
We don't have much money, but the board needs to release some funds to him surely?!?!

The board surely have to relase some funds if we are to compete with the other Euro challengers, hopefully Sparky can produce a gem or 2

We need to rely on the gems that Sparky brings in and so far he hasnt let us down once. I think peeps forget that we are punching above our weight... but we keep going and proving people wrong is very satisfying.

There will come a point though when the gems that Sparky keeps digging up will not be any better than those players that he has (hopefully this will be a while yet though) and if this does happen then without funds it will be continually harder to keep doing what we are, punching above our weight or not.

Fair point that HDM, it will get harder for him but the club has said it is seekingly investement actively so come the summer I am hoping more money should become available??? whats everyone else take on this investment malarky??
MikeyGamst
This, to me, is another indication of Hughes wanting more money for targets. I think the club should extend him a bit of captial to bring in players. We won't add to the quality otherwise!

I think that you can only go so far with the bargains that Sparky gets, there will come a point where these bargains WILL NOT be any better than what we have, this is when money needs spending.
Hughes Da Man
I think we are reaching that point that HDM speaks of. By the summer surely somet must be in place???
