That's How You Answer Back!!!

Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes has answered back to those that had suggested Rovers' season had gone "off track."

The end to 2007 was VERY poor for Rovers as we only won once in nine games and slipped away from the top six towards midtable, as well as crashing out of the Carling Cup and the FA Cup, all of which led many to suggest that our season was slipping away. However, we have now won our last three matches and are just three points away from a Champions League place, so Hughes has answered back these critics, but insists that he was NEVER worried about things.

Hughes said: "We played some great stuff earlier in the season and we had a spell where we didn't hit those heights, and as a consequence we lost games.

"People were viewing it as a massive slump and our season being over, and lo and behold, we win three games and we're now three points off a Champions League place.

"We've looked at the averages over the last few years and set targets this year and we're where we hoped we would be at this stage.

"I keep telling people it's unrealistic for us to win every game because we haven't got the strength in depth to do that. But we'll try to keep key players fit and hope players come in and have a positive impact for us, such as Jason Roberts
."

It is Middlesbrough on Saturday, victory in this match (depending on other results) could see us climb even higher, and even closer to this Champions League place.

I have to admit that I was a little worried about how things were going but to answer the critics the way we have has been SUPERB. It would be a lot easier if some players could be signed, but I am still sure that if the right players come up for the right amount they can be signed and WILL help us in our quest for success this season.

Indeed, good piece dude. However, I'm getting a little worried about Hughes constantly hinting at not having enough resources to improve. The board should back him now in the hope we can push on.

guys, all im going to say is, imagine if the mighty r0vers had won 3/4 of those games in th 7 game non winning streak?! surely ppl wud be speaking of title hopes? this shows the strentgh of rovers' future if only someone took a proper interest in investing!! anyway, come on hughesy and the boys, lets push on for europe!! u never know how far a few good wins can take us!!!
whitey_82003
last few wins have been good, but they havent been top table teams, nevertheless, 3 points is 3 points

We need to improve of goal scoring rate whilst not letting the goals in! The next few games are key... Everton & Villa then Arsenal away - hopefully a point there! - and then three we shoudl win Bolton, Newcastle and Fulham... With no Cup to distract us - Prem position is all we can hope for... i'd be happy with 5th or 6th and ecstatic with 4th!

Gonna be hard to break into the 4 with performances like against boro thats for sure

im liking what whitey is saying. I never lost the faith in us... we are a good side and good players dont just turn into bad ones over night.

what about pedersen mikey? lol

Last time we played Everton we should have won. And Villa punished us when we tried to get something from the game after going down - we can beat these two teams. With Liverpool in internal rows maybe this season is the best chance for a lot of teams to get into that top 4.
