'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hughes Focused On Rovers

Mark Hughes has reiterated he is happy at Blackburn following mounting speculation linking him with the vacant Newcastle manager's job.

The former Wales boss is the bookmakers favourite for the job after Harry Redknapp rejected the chance of succeeding Sam Allardyce.

However, Hughes appeared to distance himself from a move after Sunday's 2-1 victory against Bolton at the Reebok Stadium following a late winner from substitute Jason Roberts.

Hughes said: 'I have support from the chairman (John Williams) and the board. That is something you do not give up lightly.

'The fact is I have continuity here and a good situation. Things are in place and I am very conscious of that.

'All I am trying to do is my job to the best of my ability with the help of my staff.

'I am not into self-promotion but speculation has surrounded me in the past.

'But I am still Blackburn manager and have a job to do here.

'In football you need time and I have been given that. I am proud to be manager of this club.'

This is certainly encouraging stuff from our excellent gaffer. Lets here some more of it.

Surely exactly what we all wanted to hear???

Yeah, why Sparky would want to leave remains to be seen. It'll be Alan Shearer and someone, or someone (but NOT Sparky) and Shearer.
Superb win today wasn't it dudes.

Absolutely top draw. The defence looked good for the main, the centre of the park was solid, the spark came from the wings and J-Rob when he came on was excellent.

Good win today and thanks for beating the Horwich lot, can we have Roberts back?
worbo
JR must start next week over McCarthey! I've always been a bit suspicious of his finishing, but his shots do seem to find the net even when he scuffs them and today he was utterly immense up front. He's definitely up there with Drogba and Heskey in terms of pure presence up front.. In short top stuff!

Notice how he's not saying, 'I'm not interested' or 'I'm staying at Rovers'. Slighly worrying!
martinr
Yeah martinr I must admit that his words don't fill me with full confidence. I mean the line 'you never what what can happen in football' worries me! He does though seem happy at Rovers and for me everything is pointing against a move. He woudl ruin his very impressive CV. Plus the man u job will be available in the next two to three years and he won't want to have tarnished his reputation when that vacancy opens!!!!

It would be a BIG step backwards, and seem a pointless move. Just wait for the Manure job Sparky.
Hughes Da Man
Thought hughes handled the pressure well and a very good result for you guys.
will it ever happen
this probably means he will stay he seems to be a man of integrity so i believe him
ozanne park rangers
I wish he would just come out and end the speculation
