Hughes Linked With Newcastle Job

Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes is once again being linked with the now vacant position at Newcastle United.

Hughes has been a target for Newcastle for sometime now, and even when Sam Allardyce was in charge at St James' Park he was being linked with the club as their owner Mike Ashley is understood to be an admirer of Hughes'.

Now with Allardyce having left Newcastle "by mutual consent" the position is available and a lot of people are beginning to feel that Sparky is the man that they want, despite Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp being the current favourite. The suggestion is that Sparky might feel that he has taken Rovers as far as he can, something I would COMPLETELY disagree with.

A senior Rovers source told the Lancashire Telegraph: "We've heard nothing from Newcastle United and that's how we hope it stays."

Sparky would be CRAZY to go to Newcastle, he will stay with us until the Manure job becomes available, then he will go, NOT before!!!

not sure if the new NUFC owners are Geordies, probably so, if they are Welsh then maybe Hughes will go, otherwise its too far out of his safety zone, mind you Savage as well as Bellamy how now been sold. Could be Peace in the Darwen valleys, yet. boyo.

i just don't see why any sane manager would really want the newcastle job?! Their fans expect way too much, they are definitely the spurs of the north... it's not even like they're risiculously rich compared to the clubs around them any more.. west ham, villa, pompey, city all seem to have a *****load of cash even if we don't.. hell even sunderland and fulham'll spend more than newcastle this year.. I just don't see the attraction.

Lok out fellas their about to offer the job to our Harry.. and I'm sure he'll say no... Then it'll be Hughsie the'll want... Keep 'old of him he's great for your club... You wouldn't wat Hodgeson back now would ya ?

I quite liked Hodgson... I'd prefer Hughes though! Pompey want to worry though, apparantly Harry is tempted and Newcastle will fly him to and from work everyday in a private jet so he doesn't have to move from him beloved south coast.

ah ***** off newcastle! i hate newcastle the club and the team spurs of the north they are except they havent won anything in fifty years! if sparky goes he is stupid! he has the full backing of the fans and of the board! at newcastle he will never have any of that!
