Savage On Cusp Of Derby Move

Robbie Savage is on his way to Derby, after Blackburn late last night accepted a £2million bid for the midfield battler.

Savage has agreed to move to Paul Jewell's club after the Rams came up with cash Rovers demanded, and Sunderland have refused to increase their offer from the original £1m they bid.

Welsh international Savage will sign a two-and-a-half year deal at Pride Park, happy to accept the mission impossible challenge of keeping them up.

Realistically, Jewell sees Savage, 33, as the type of on-field leader to bring the club back to the Premier League at the first time of asking next season.

It is expected Derby will pay £1.5m up front and further cash based on appearances and status in the Premier League.

A deal is expected to be concluded this evening.

Well good luck to the chap. Hughes has got three years good service out of Sav and negotiated a decent price for him considering he is 33! Let's hope Sav can inspire them to turn their season around.

Yeah, good luck to Sav and Derby. Sav has given us superb service but the time is right for all concerned.

I think for all 3 parties this is the best move. I for one will be giving Sav a cheer upon his return. Good luck rob.

I wish him all the best. I will not boo, but I will applaud him when he returns to Ewood. He has been a good and loyal servant for us.
Decimus Poole
I want Derby to stay up now so Robbie can stay in the premiership - he might be the lift the players need. Good luck to him
FreidelNo.1
Yeah so do i dude, but it's almost impossible, even Sav can't save them can he?!?!
Hughes Da Man
Yeah it is a big ask - only one win all season and going to have to make up 10 points on their nearest rivals.
FreidelNo.1
It will be the greatest esacpe since Steve McQueen if they do!!!
Hughes Da Man
If anyone can do it.. its Sav.
