Hughes Keen To Keep Gallagher

Blackburn Rovers striker Paul Gallagher has returned to Ewood Park after a successful loan spell with Preston North End. A move away this month has been mooted, but Rovers manager Mark Hughes insists he wants to keep him.

When Hughes let him leave for this (latest) loan spell it was ALWAYS with the condition that he would return in the New Year (as he has) but this hasn't stopped clubs (including Preston) showing an interest in him but Hughes remains adamant that he wants to keep Gallagher here as he is a great admirer of his, and will ONLY sell him if it is in the best interests of Rovers.

Hughes told The Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "I've got a lot of time for Gally because I've got great admiration for the skill and technical ability that he has got.

"I don't really want to allow that out of the club unless it suits my plans, and I'm able to look at situations that will benefit the club.

"So we are not really looking at the situation regarding Paul as yet, but the window is open so who knows what might happen
."

It is VERY hard to see where Gally's chance will come, so as much as it would be good to keep him, in the long-term I really can't see that he will be here?!?!

I'm a MASSIVE fan of Gally's and would be thrilled to see him given a chance here, but it's just not going to happen is it?!?!

I wouldnt be so sure after yesterday HDM!!!!

I think he will be given opportunities from now until the end of the season as his technical play may allow for more creativity. Could we see Bents pushed more central and Gally on the right?
roversman
well gally has been used in the middle before so maybe this is where his future lies with us! he is certainly a good player and i would really like to see him get his chance!

For some reason I think he suits the role that Tugay lays. People will laugh at me saying that but given freedom he can influence a game.
MikeyGamst
In my opinion he's not strong enough for the CM position.
IsraeliRover
Yeah, physically he isn't strong enough but technically he could pull the strings like Tugs does. I want to se him tried there in the coming weeks.
roversman
I think given the creative role he could play, strength isnt a major role, he would be playing alongside someone like Dunn, Reid or the Axe.
MikeyGamst
If he can bulk up then technically he is as good as any. As you say though Mikey he could have the physicall "minders" around him couldn't he. I'm up for this, come on then Sparky you rate him so highly, give the dude a chance to show his technical ability.
Hughes Da Man
We have not many options at present.... its worth a spin in my eyes.
MikeyGamst
Typical... every time I get a shirt with a player's name on they bloody leave! He'd better stay!
