Keane Plays Down Savage Talk

Sunderland manager Roy Keane is refusing to comment on speculation linking his side with a move for Blackburn Rovers midfielder Robbie Savage.

Savage has been heavily mooted with a move away from Rovers for some time now, but these links have grown stronger and stronger in recent weeks, and the suggestion is that Sunderland have held talks with Sav over a £1.5 million move to the Stadium of Light, but Keane insists that it is not his place to comment on this in public.

Keane told the media: "There have been plenty of players linked with us. I would say in the last month maybe something like 20, 25. I don't think we will be signing 25 players, let me tell you.

"It would be completely wrong for me to comment on a player under contract at a football club.

"If you asked Mark Hughes if he would be interested in Kenwyne Jones and he spoke about one of my players, I would be very disappointed. It is the wrong way to do it
."

Sav (and Jason Roberts) were both left out of not only the starting XI but ALSO the squad completely for the match with Derby County on Sunday afternoon, so this will only further fuel the speculation that he will be leaving, which is looking increasing likely (for both?!?!)

However, Rovers manager Mark Hughes though insists that Sav has an injury and NO bids have been made, but has admitted that Roberts was left out of the squad, and not due to injury.

I'm starting to think that Sav and JR have both played their last matches for Rovers dudes?!?!

Yer not sure after recent comments now though, wouldn't mind selling J.R for 3mill breaking even that be great. Sav depends if we could get a proper replacement with the money for a Tugay'ish player.
roverjoy
I think we can bring in better players with the money generated. I think Nugent would be a better option than roberts and sav is on his last legs. Now is the time to cash in.
roversman
As much as Sav is loved I think you are right dude, now is the time to cash in while we can, and I think it'll happen. The "injury" cover story is a little to convienient if you ask me.
Hughes Da Man
I think cashing in would be a good idea but if sav moves before or after id still like him to have a good reception at ewood, whether he is playing or not a good chant of the "Super Rob" song would be great.

Yeah, knew what you meant dude and WOULD completely agree.
