Ooijer Too Old For PSV

Ooijer Too Old For PSV

Blackburn Rovers will not be losing defender Andre Ooijer anytime soon, not to PSV Eindhoven anyway.

PSV had been heavily linked with signing the 33-year-old Dutch International (who is currently out injured) but after looking over his injury track record and his age technical manager Stan Valckx has admitted that he was too old for their consideration and his injury problems over the years have also gone against him as well.

Valckx told Elf Voetbal: "In the last seven years he has missed one third of the season due to injuries. Beside that we are looking for someone with an eye on the future."

There has been some talk that Rovers are looking to offer Ooijer a new contract, which does expire at the end of the season.

This is good to hear (that they don't want him) as keeping him for the rest of the season at least is something that I would like. Personally I'm still not sure if he will stay at Ewood Park beyond this though?

well we will keep him to ourselves then. in my opinion he has been one of our better defenders this season although he did have a slow start to the season. away from ooijer how are we in tenth and west ham in ninth if we have a point more than them?

We are lucky to be in 9th not 10th. Look at the GD, West Ham have +7, 8 more than us. Hope we can finish in the top 10. On current form we will be lucky to hang on to 11th as all the teams around us seem to be improving. What has happened to our previously so solid defence in recent matches?
