Hughes Shopping For Bargains

Hughes Shopping For Bargains

Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes has admitted that he doesn't expect much transfer activity when the transfer window re-opens.

With funds not readily available at Ewood Park, unless the reported takeover FINALLY can go through Hughes will once again be shopping for bargains (which he does remarkable well anyway!!!) in January. However, Sparky insists that he will be OK with that as he is happy enough with the squad as it is, so he wouldn't be going out of his way to sign players anyway.

Hughes said: "I think the squad is strong enough but if opportunities present themselves then we'll have a look at it.

"But we think we are strong enough to get through this
."

Personally I DO think that Rovers need to pick up a midfielder, and possibly a defender.

Not a lot needs looking at in January but an extra midfielder (maybe this Senegalese dude that has been on trial?) could be needed, ideally with some creative influence (which I am not sure he has?)
A right-back would come in handy too, however we do have the Monk and Eddie Nolan, personally I would like to see Nolan given a run.

I want to see midfield strengthened. Sunday was the first time that I felt we looked horribly weak there. Tugs is getting on, even though still awesome, Sav is losing it, The Binman isn't looking great at the moment, Reidy is still returning and Dunny isn't scoring enough or creating enough!

Spot on roversman, Dunny is becoming more of the Savage type of player which honestly is really dissapointing as he has shown his creative talents

im actually feeling a little concerned about the forwards after seeing the hammers game. Both benni and rocque seemed to be playing in more of the support striker (SS on pro evo :D ) than out and out forwards. Hopefully we'll see a little more of Derbyshire this season though seeing as he's really the only out and out forward we have

I agree Bents4eng - our strikers didn't really have many chances, or didn't take them - our midfielders had all the good shots - I think the game showed that we missed Bentley and his crosses more than anything.

definitely missed bentley. Also how much longer until MGP re-finds form. Starting to think we should have offloaded him in the summer and gone for matty taylor or someone

we certainlty missed some width on sunday. a midfielder looks like the main area of refreshing. a creative midfielder would be a good buy. also i'd like to see treacy replace gamst given the growing reputation i'm hearing. i agree with bents4eng, i think its time for derbs to get a few games as the goals are drying up, santa missed 2 good chances at the weekend, and were not getting in behind the oppositions defence.

"I think the squad is strong enough"?!?!?! Jesus- we must bring a creative CM + DR ASAP. By the way the new boy from Metz is a winger....

If you are Hughes, you are hardly likely to admit in the media before the window opens that "Yeah, realistically we need a RB, a creative midfielder and maybe a winger and an out and out striker" now are you? A) it knocks the confidence of the players in that position currently, them thinking they are about to be replaced and B) any player that we move for, their team thinks "hmmm Rovers are desparate for this player, add another million or 4!!!" Hughes is spectacularly good at keeping his hand close to his chest! We wait with baited breath gentlemen but I would be surprised if we dont see some comings AND goings.

A very good observation BB - Hughes will buy if there are funds available... This take over thing seems to have given us false hope of some cash for January
