Roberts On Course For Fulham Return

Blackburn Rovers striker Jason Roberts looks as though he will be fit to return for Rovers after the International break.

Roberts picked up a thigh injury in the Carling Cup win over Birmingham City in September and has been out ever since, but having played a part in training recently the International break should give him even more time to get up to speed and he should be available for selection against Fulham (a team that have tried, and failed, twice to sign him) at the end of the month.

Rovers manager Mark Hughes told the Lancashire Telegraph: "He joined in training on Saturday, and he did most of the session.

"Obviously it was just a light preparation session for the United game, but he's back in the group and that's the first time we've seen him in a while.

"Hopefully, by the end of the international break he'll be an option again.

"He's got a chance for Fulham if everything goes okay
."

Roberts has become almost something of a forgotten man, but he gives Rovers a VERY different option and is still a player that I personally feel has a lot to offer Rovers so I look forward to his return soon.

JR will have a battle to get back into the side, but I for one (and MikeyGamst!) will be VERY pleased when he is back. Injuries haven't helped him during his time with Rovers but I still think he is a quality striker that offers us SOOOO much.

yeah great option but need a bit of variety up front at the moment good choice for the game against Fulham will be a physical game, and that is his style!!!

Looking forward to the big man coming back... he may have his detractors but he is as effective as anyone we have. He will have a battle on his hands but he can do it. More options = more chance of winning.
MikeyGamst
Good news, offers something different and can inject power and pace to get through the oppositions defence. Sounds like its turning into a battle to just get on the bench now at rovers and with hughes looking at more players january should be very interesting.

The more competition for places the better, players have to keep up their guard or they could be replaced.

Roberts does get a bit of bad-press, however I thought that at the end of last season he was getting a start and was banging in some goals - then he got injured. Hopefully he will be a good impact player to bring on either to hold the ball up at the end of a game (when we're winning!) or to grab a goal with his pace.

He is the only option available as an alternative to Santa Cruz.
MikeyGamst
Still has a lot to prove in my opinion! No harm in having more options up front though.

that'll please our friends from down the other end of the Fulham Road (not)

We're Filham trying to buy him as well, before he got injured?
FreidelNo.1
They tried to buy him in the summer but got a 2.5 and 4 million bid rejected. We shouldnt sell him. He has too much to offer.
MikeyGamst
Yep totally agree - we need to build a squad of decent players and keep them (as I said for Ooijer as well) otherwise we will struggle in the second half of the season with injuries
