Rovers Reserves slip up

After a string of victories, Blackburn Reserves headed to Eastlands confident of victory against Manchester City.

Rovers started of the brighter of the two, with a neat interchange passage between Treacy and Rigters setting up Sergio Peter who fired home a 30 yard stunner. Rigters almost doubled the lead soon after, but was prevented by the outside of the post.

Gunnar Nielson, Mark Hughes off season signing, showed exactly what he was about with a brilliant one handed save, preventing an early equaliser from City. 2 minutes later, Rovers were on the score sheet again. Reidy setting an overlap with Taylor, who whipped in a cross, neatly finished by Rigters.

However, Rovers let this lead slip almost immediately, as Ashely Grimes pulled a goal back for City, 2-1 Rovers. City almost equalised on the stroke of half time, with Nielson pulling of another fantastic save.

Poor defending cost Rovers, with City putting away two goals within the first 20 minutes of the second half. Rovers had no response, despite a late Header from Eddie Nolan landing on top of the goal.

dissapointing from the lads as the game was in their grasp. Good to see Reidy is back in full flight, playing the full 90 minutes

Glad Reid is back - I thought he was quality in his last season for us... and Hughes does well not rushing his players back. The Ireland boss needs to think about what he's doing!

I've just read that Rovers were allocated 1920 tickets for the Utd game - which we've sold out - am I the only one who thinks that this is a bit of a poor allocation for a 70,000 seater?
FreidelNo.1
Hello guys, long time no see, have not been on here for ages. Hope your all well. Nice to see Hughes doing well for you, unlucky in the second half. 1920 tickets is terrible, why so low and will you be allocated more now that you have sold them all ?
pandapops
We get an extra allocation if we need them... they should go on sale today. I am not overly fussed about the reserve scoreline if I am honest, more glad to see Peter and Rigters doing well, they should get more of a look in the better they play in the reserves. More imporatntly further still, great to hear Reidy got through 90... not long now.

Disappointing at any level for Rovers to let a two goal lead slip, but players getting football is the most important thing here, with Reidy coming through the 90 minutes a real plus.
Manure are frightened, that's why, they will be outsung now matter how few or how many go!!!

pandapops - Good to see you again dude, it has been AGES, where you been hiding lol!
Hughes Da Man
yeah panda pops??? its not been the same without the low cost fizzy pop man!!!! lol
MikeyGamst
Is anyone else quietly confident of nicking a point on Sunday at old Trafford???
MikeyGamst
i am, lets go for all three lol
sasman
I'm quietly confident - keeping a clean sheet would be great - maybe another nil-nil - would be a good result
FreidelNo.1
dony know about the clean sheet at O.T thats a big ask! it will be very tough considerin they have one of the best defences in the league but i reckon we could nick a point and if we do i would be delighted!
durks de rover
Surprisingly, I am not confident about getting any points on Sunday. I predict a 2-0 loss. I would be ecstatic if get a point. I work with a Man Utd fan, who offered a ticket for the home end. Unfortunately, I had to turn it down as I have to have a filling (my first ever filling, in my 27 years on this planet), and I can't afford both. I would have turned down the filling, if the ticket had come along sooner!
Decimus Poole
What you worried abou? easily going to win 2-0!!!
will it ever happen
Saying that... United are due a loss at home by us again!
FreidelNo.1
I think that I've just got used to winning - so I don't want to lose at all costs! A draw would be good, a win fantastic! As long as we don't get battered...!
