Cruz Control

Here's the latest press release from Actim Index (below), sent to me via email.

Cruz Control: Roque punching his weight in Actim Index

Roque Santa Cruz's best score of the season of 36 points in the 4-2 victory over Reading saw him rocket up the standings in The Actim Index, the official player ratings system of the Barclays Premier League.

The Paraguay international took his tally to four league goals in nine games against the Royals, his personal points haul seeing him climb 27 places to 11th in the Index with 149 points.

Blackburn boss Mark Hughes has hailed the blossoming partnership of Santa Cruz and Benni McCarthy, who have scored 12 goals between them in all competitions this season.

McCarthy, who was named in the Actim Index Team of the Week, moved 96 places to 71st with 102 points as his tally of 44 was also his highest of the season. The South African has scored four goals this term from just five shots on target.

Analysis of all Premier League games is taking place throughout the season and the players in the Actim Index Team of the Week are:

Joe Hart, Manchester City
Glen Johnson, Portsmouth
Alex, Chelsea
Claudio Cacapa, Newcastle United
Rio Ferdinand, Manchester United
Frank Lampard, Chelsea
Ryan Giggs, Manchester United
Tugay, Blackburn Rovers
Mathieu Flamini, Arsenal
Benni McCarthy, Blackburn Rovers
Wayne Rooney, Manchester United

The Actim Index (click here) is calculated using a unique mathematical formula that rates each player's contribution be it goals, shots, passes, dribbles, tackles, crosses, saves, clearances, blocks, interceptions, assists, clean sheets, time on the pitch or number of points gained by the team with marks deducted for red and yellow cards.
