Rovers Duo (Maybe Trio) To Return

Blackburn Rovers have been given a MASSIVE boost by the news that Birthday boys Ryan Nelsen and Robbie Savage have given out presents instead of receiving them.

On your birthday you usually receive presents don't you, but Rovers captain, and defensive lynchpin Nelsen (who has turned 30) and the annoying (for opponents anyway) yet highly instrumental component of our midfield Savage (who has turned 33) have both given out Rovers presents with the news that they will both be available for selection this Saturday's Premier League clash with Reading at Ewood Park. They have trained during the International break after hamstring and leg problems respectively, and are fit enough to return to the squad, most likely the starting XI (well almost certainly God anyway?!?!)

This news was superb, but there could be EVEN MORE great news!!! Another that MIGHT also come into contention after some intensive treatment at Brockhall this past week (with it thought he would be out until at least the start of November) could be Roque Santa Cruz! The Paraguayan International had to withdraw from his countries International fixtures with tendonitis in his knee, having previously been receiving pain-killing injections to play. However, he has responded to the extensive treatment and the Rovers top goalscorer could play some part as well.

Meanwhile, although he was not unavailable prior to this match Matt Derbyshire (who had limped out of the England Under-21's victory over the Republic of Ireland this week) has also shaken off his knock, and is expected to be fit as well.

Having God back is a MASSIVE boost, Sav is something that still concerns me so we will have to see how he goes in the next few games.
If Santa Cruz can make it back this weekend that would be superb, but if he isn't right no risks will be taken, with Derbs also fit this is even more likely to be the case (no risks.)

when in the name of god will steven reid be back? we need him now i feel sav isnt on form and tigay cant last ninety minutes in a game! dunn and mokoena are the only midfielders we have fit and i really dont know how long dunny can go before he picks up another injury! sorry to be negative in the light of great news(gods return) but im getting worried

I've been worried about Reidy for sometime dude, I don't know when he will be back, and even when he is I still worry about his long-term fitness, but I hope he'll be OK obviously!!!

I'm going to start reading the articles, no just the comments, before commenting. I wouldn't risk Rocky. I stick by McCarthy and Bent's to start, and Derbyshire and Rigters on the bench (see previous post in a previous article...). Good news re Nelson. Samba looks more confident playing next to him. Always good to Savage back in the fold. It gives Hughes a 'good' headache. With injuries and suspensions, the team can usually pick itself. I think i would struggle picking the same team as Hughes this week!

i reckon let matty d play and make sure rigter's get on. I much prefer bents on the wing. Also I don't like these crazy narrow formations, we've got 2 of the best wingers in the league!!

Decimus Poole - WHAT you don't read articles before commenting lol!
Hughes Da Man
Bents4eng - I agree dude, Bents is good wherever he plays but he is much more affective for Rovers when he plays on the wing, as you rightly point out in him and MGP we have two of the best wingers around.
Hughes Da Man
Great news about God. I think it will be sensible to rest Roque this weekend, give him the full chance to recover, and play Benni. Give last season's prem second top scorer a chance. He looked better for the goal last time out. As for Reid. I would have thought he would be back by now but there is no word.

Apparently Reidy is "nearing a return", but we've been hearing this for ages now!!! Hopefully this WILL be the case this time.
Hughes Da Man
would be great to have reidy intime for the christmas roster, we have a few big games coming up, the more depth the better
sasman
Well he SHOULD be back anytime now shouldn't he, he has a reserve game tonight.
Hughes Da Man
we need Reid back - he is a great player
