Santa Hoping For Quick Return

Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz is currently out with tendonitis in the knee (which is a blow to not only Rovers but Paraguay) but he hopes to be back in November.

The news that Santa Cruz had a problem broke this week, and given his history of knee problems it is understandable that the initial reaction was one of GREAT worry. However, the MRI scan that revealed the tendonitis is not as bad as it could have been, hopefully far from it and he hopes that with complete rest and the proper rehabilitation he can return in November.

Santa Cruz told the Lancashire Telegraph "I've been forcing the injury in the last few weeks, playing with injections.

"I've reached a point where I had to decide if I should continue but run the risk of having to stop for two or three months, or if I should stop now and see if the injury gets better.

"I'm sad not to be there (with the national team).

"I don't like having to make a decision like this, but in the long term it means that I should be ready for games in November
."

Santa Cruz will miss the Premier League matches with Reading and Tottenham Hotspur, along with the Carling Cup tie with Portsmouth but hopes to return for the November 3rd Premier League match with Liverpool, followed a week later by the visit to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.

Just getting back, and back to full fitness (or near on full fitness) is the main thing. Ideally returning for those two BIG League game would be a real plus, but this will only happen if he is fully ready won't it. (Fingers crossed though!)

May be a chance for a certain Maceo to step into the lone striker role!!!! maybe???
MikeyGamst
Nah he aint cut out for lone role. play him behind benni.
roversman
im not convinced Roversman... he has strength and pace.... he might be a lot better at it than people give him credit for.
MikeyGamst
Fingers crossed aye guys, roque has really outdone himself, becoming our number one striker, time for benni mac to step up to te plate

I hope the striker that replaces Roque can do it well and even better than what he's been doing; personally, I think Derbyshire and Benny will cover the front line; but honestly I hope Roque can get better soon! (because I'm looking forward to see him agains Liverpool and Manchester, plus there're two more WC Qualifiying games in November!)

Personally I think that it'll be Benni and Derbs that fill the void, I would like to see Rigters get a go, but I don't think Sparky can really leave Derbs out at the moment can he?!?!
Hughes Da Man
I think Derbs has earnt his chance.... biut I hope Rigs gets a bit more of a go, he aint done anything wrong its just the guys who start dont either!!!
