'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Coach In The Making???

One day, the inevitable will happen, Sparky will leave. We might have a manager or two after him, but within our own ranks, a manager in the making.

HDM's prodigy, Matty Derbyshire, recently highlighted his original goal was to be a Premiership manager, not player!!!!! Derbyshire is quoted with saying, "Its a great job, you have football at your feet everyday and can influence the development of younger players...... that was the line I wanted to go down to, I also wanted to play at the highest level, never thinking I would make it this far"

Where was the confidence lad, your a star in the making!!!!

However, imagine one day down the track, a player who loves this club, managing us to glory, and who better to learn from, then Sparky himself. I say let the kid concentrate on football first, but as the time does come, in 10-15 years, why not, Derbs has sure impresses me on the pitch, no doubts he cant make the same impression of the pitch later in life.

Nice one sasman, quality piece of submitted work there, I like it.
Derbs certainly knows how to coach doesn't he, as he's already done this before. I could see him as a VERY good manager one day, and quite possibly a Rovers manager but for now lets concentrate on what you are doing best Derbs, and this is playing and scoring!!!

I read that he had most of coaching badges as it was. However, to learn from Hughes and Bowen, both coached at National level, and made a pretty poor national team (no offence to Welsh) seem pretty half decent, and make our beloved Blackburn from relegation contenders to European/Champs League contenders, can only be good for the lad. I'm sure Derbyshire's passion for Blackburn will not dwindle, and he can only be a long term asset for the club.

good work sasman!!! you beat me to it!!!! lol Matty as a manager seems a bit far fetched now but later on... you never know. HDM would have a heart attack!!! lo

Nice piece mate, especially like the 'thunder from down under'! Interesting to hear such a young player talking like this already. Concentrate on being the next Linekar first Derbs!

The Thunder From Down Under is quality isn't it!!!
My boy can just concentrate on playing for the minute, but in a bid to keep him at the club in a few years time they will make te desperate move to make him player manager (sound familir lol!)
Seriously though I think he'll make a great manager one day, but I want him to concentrate on being the GREAT player first.
