Rigters Scores First Rovers Goal

Blackburn Rovers striker Maceo Rigters scored his first goal for Rovers on Tuesday Evening during a reserve match with Middlesbrough, a match that ended 1-1.

The Dutch star, who excelled at the European Under-21 Championships last summer as he finished the tournament as the top goalscorer, helping the Dutch to lift the trophy scored after 10 minutes then also struck the bar shortly after. This should help him in his bid to fill a void left by Roque Santa Cruz, who looks to be in for a bit of an injury lay-off.

Further good news was the return to action of Bruno Berner. The Swiss International suffered a metatarsal injury during Pre-Season and was expected to be out until at least Christmas, but having made a quicker than anticipated return he too will now be looking to push forward his first-team claims. Tony Kane and Andy Taylor also looked very impressive in the full-back areas.

This is ALL good news for Rovers (obviously the Middlesbrough equaliser aside!)

Good news that we now have cover at left back. That was playing on my mind
Decimus Poole
Bruno in pre season looked great (much better than last season), so this only good news. I think Maceo will get a bigger opportunity now.

MikeyGamst

Olsson isn't a bad deputy for Stevie W though is he. However, Berner offers versatility and can fill in in so many positions, literally ANYWHERE!
Hughes Da Man
I forgot about Olsson (I will take HDM's spelling on that one!)...
Decimus Poole
Spelling is never gonna be a strong point decimus!!! everyone apart from roversman would be fired otherwise loL!!!! (ps. dont tell HDM I said that ;) )
MikeyGamst
Berner can basically pla anywhere apart from up front and in net!!!!
MikeyGamst
Mikey...I think HDM is simmering with discontent!!!Lol. I was pleased to hear about this news and like many of you say, this will be good for his confidence and is a timely boost when considering the injury to Santa. Good news about Bruno too.
roversman
I'm always simmering with discontent, often reaching boiling point lol!
