Rovers Captain Out Of Kiwi Matches

With Blackburn Rovers defender Ryan Nelsen failing to significantly recover well enough he will NOT be taking part in the upcoming New Zealand Internationals, as had been expected.

Nelsen is making fine progress (with this ahead of the original schedule) as he looks to return from his latest injury set-back, but even this hasn't been good enough for him to be able to recover to an extent that would allow him to take part in the International's with Vanuatu.

Hughes told Setanta Sports: "He is training with the group, but he is not at full pace yet.

"He may well build up to that over the weekend, but it's unlikely now that we'll risk him (for the game against Birmingham City).

"It certainly means he won't be travelling because it's too much of a risk. Hopefully during the break we can get some good work into him, and by the end of the international week he will be fit, well and ready to return
."

Obviously this will be a disappointment to New Zealand (as who wouldn't want a player of God's quality, not to mention his leadership skills in their side!) but if he isn't ready, he isn't ready.

God will be disappointed as he is a VERY patriotic man (like most!) who loves playing for his country, so this will be a disappointment but he will be back for them, but this WILL (lets not lie!) be beneficial to Rovers that he isn't.

Kind of pleased with this news, sorry Ryan. It can only benefit us in the long term.

What a shame for NZ. We sorely need him against East Timor or whoever it is we are playing.
