The Time For Talking Stops

We can talk up Blackburn Rovers all we want, manager Mark Hughes and the players can say how confident they are of overturning the UEFA Cup deficit all they want, but now the talking stops.

If Rovers want to carry on in this season UEFA Cup (something which I personally feel is crucial for the season, but not exactly essential) then all this talk must be channelled into the right actions, with actions speaking louder than words, and a fabulous night at Ewood Park needed if we are to overturn the 2-0 deficit from the UEFA Cup first round first leg in Greece.

We all know that this will NOT be easy, as we had the first leg, however, the complacency factor was a major one in the first leg defeat. This could be the wake up call we needed and SHOULD have sent a real message to the players, who despite the defeat to Portsmouth after have responded well on the whole but now a MASSIVE effort is needed this Evening against Giorgos Donis' Larissa, it is now make or break.

Personally I am FULLY convinced that we will witness a memorable Ewood Evening and Rovers WILL overturn the advantage that Larissa have. Patience may be the key tonight, but with a partisan Ewood crowd with an atmosphere similar to that generated against Bayer Leverkusen last season, unlike that Evening we WILL take our chances and the Evening will not end in heartbreak.

However, should the unthinkable happen and we don't come back and do (god forbid!) crash out, although this is a MAJOR blow to our season it WON'T be a terminal blow as we will still have plenty to play for this season, in what should be another superb one. But this WON'T happen anyway will it!!!

I don't really think I have anything to add, I've said all I wanted above I think?!?!

Well said HDM! '...crucial for the season, but not exactly essential' I like it. lol

Teh atmosphere we need is the one generated when we played against salzburg last year. 25,000 and the place rocked... if we can recreate that then I believe we will triumph. I am ready, my guys are ready... lets have it.

HDM- if we can't beat Larisa, then I'd say we do have a major problem. Sparky can't say he expects to "go all the way", and then lose to an anonymous side- who's budget is as 10% of ours....If we can't go through today, and won't finish top 6 this season, I'd expect him to leave. Simple as that.
IsraeliRover
If we dont go through tonight then I agree that we have a problem but the problem was one of our own making in the first leg. It is not a reflection of a poor side... it a reflection of 1 poor game.
MikeyGamst
Well said MG. One bad game does not a bad season make. Everyone has an off day. I had a dream that I was happy at the end of the game, so I can only presume we won. Many of the footballing dreams I have have turned out to be the aggregate score (e.g. if we had won 2-0 in the dream, it would be 4-0 on the night), as we won by two clear goals). I realise that this is not a solid rock to base my optimism, but if I were a betting man I would put money on us going through. We have enough players that can score. Our defence, along with Brad, is pretty solid. I'm confident this evening will NOT be another Trellesborg.
Decimus Poole
Oh god Decimus dont bring that up!!! lol... Donis has stated the game is 50/50 as to whether they go through... I am optimistic.

We're gunna do it boys. All positive energy needs to be cahnneled towards Ewood. Good piece dude.
roversman
It may have been a good piece (thanks dudes!) but the talk was not followed up was it, bitterly disappointed that we've crashed out so early as I GENUINLEY thought we could win this, but defeat to Larissa in Greece proved we weren't good enough really I gues?!?!
Hughes Da Man
If we cant beat larissa over 2 legs we shouldnt win.. we'll be back. Mark my words.
