Vital Blackburn's most recent Poll asked, "Defender/Keeper of the Month for September?" We voted in favour of Christopher Samba.

For a second month running Samba, with 41% has been voted the Defender of the Month so takes his place in the grand final shortly to determine the Vital Blackburn Player of the Month.

Brad Friedel's 37% sees him finish as a VERY close runner up to the Wall, and as such he also advances to the overall Player of the Month poll taking place soon.

Brett Emerton (10%), Ryan Nelsen (4%), Martin Olsson (4%) Stephen Warnock (4%) and Andre Ooijer (0%) completed the poll.

So in summary
Brett Emerton - 10%

I'd agree with the two finalists, not so sure about the order in which they qualified though?!?!

4% for Nelsen... ? RNs not only plays exceptionally well himself, but his presence enables others around him to show quality also. Chris Samba has developed into a top player probably thanks to the solid performance and leadership of the Rovs captain. Nelsen is inspirational.

I would agree with both of you dudes, God is the talisman but as you point out Mikey (and we have spoken about sooo often) he has slipped into the Bradders mould, of being so good he's taken for granted.
However, I do think the right men came in the top two, but as said maybe not the right order OR by such a margain.

Agree with Samba being top and Brad near the top but Nelsen got 4%!!! thats the same as Martin Olsson who despite being promising isnt in the same league. I know majority rules and everything but its a little bit misrepresentative!!! lol

Spot on Mikey. Nelsen does'nt really have bad games and his performances are almost taken for granted now. I guess most fans are still a bit surprised as to how good Samba has been for us over the last year. Long may it continue though!

I do genuinely believe that Samba looks so much more confortable playing with God though... sorry for the rant guys but Nelsen is our key player and I just think we should appreciate him a bit more!!!

I agree with MG. However, the poll was for September, which does not include August (obviously!) Nelson was absent for the latter half to September, so on a FULL month basis, Samba is the deserved winner. In the absence of Nelson, I did think Samba looked a little suspect against Portsmouth, but since then, the has lead the back line well. I voted for Friedal, so my opinion in this matter cannot be argued with! lol
