Bentley Targets Double Figures

Bentley Targets Double Figures

Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Bentley took his goals tally to three for the season after his second goal in as many games with his opener in the 2-1 victory over Sunderland on Saturday, now he is targeting more.

The England International is now targeting getting into double figures (which a player of his ability and quality should be able to) and if he didn't we would all be disappointed wouldn't we?!?!

Bentley told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: "I'm looking to get into double figures this year and hopefully that is what I'll do.

"If I continue at work hard, to continue to be honest and to give it my all, I believe in my own ability and that I can get there
."

However, despite his delight at scoring his goal, which was obvious he was a little embarrassed by the way he did celebrate the goal, which was not the most graceful of celebrations. He added: "You are always delighted when you score, you could see the way I celebrated, I fell over like an idiot!"

My admiration for Bents is not much of a secret, nor is anyone else's but if I had one criticism of him it would be his lack of goals. He needs to contribute more of these and then he will be the complete product no doubt about it.

He is a superb talent, we have known that for a few years, and he is slowly beginning to be recognised fully for this. More goals (and better celebrations lol!) and the sky will literally be the limit for Bents.

Bents is one of the most exciting young talents in the Premiership at the moment. He's been very impressive so far this season and the way he's going, I'd fully expect him to hit double figures this season. I like the role he played against Sunderland at the weekend, acting as an attacking midfielder behing Roque. It was very effective and ensured that Bents recieved a lot more of the ball than usual. I'd like to see the same against Larissa on Thursday.

I think the Bentley/Roque link up will be vital for us this season, they look so suited to playing together.

I think the new system does suit Bentley, maybe not so much Derbyshire out on the rite of the four attacking players but I like the idea of going into Thurs match in this new formation, we have the players like Bents who can hurt teams and from there i can see him scoring.

Totally agree dudes we HAVE to attack Larissa this Thursday, it doesn't have to be a full on assult but if we put them under pressure early they will start to wobble, especially if we get an early goal or two.
Bents WILL have a MAJOR role to play in that match, as he will our season full stop!

if bentley does get his share of 10 goals, and roque/benni get at least 25-30 between them, derbs will get a few plus some from gamst and samba, who knows guys, we could really challenge top 4 this year

We're looking good so far! 7th with a game in hand! 3 points in that and we're up in 5th, one off Man Sh*tty!

I think this is a realistic target for Bents. Gamst has been hitting that figure there or thereabouts in recent season's so Bents should too. He has been revelling in this new role and the goals have been coming from it.

He was the best player on the park Saturday. He should be weighing in with more goals and its good that he is aiming to do so...
