Roberts Injury Setback For Rovers

Blackburn Rovers' Carling Cup victory over Birmingham City was tarnished slightly with an injury to Jason Roberts, which saw the powerful Rovers striker limp off slightly before the hour mark.

Roberts (who had put in an impressive performance) was handed a start and was causing Birmingham problems before he had to limp away from the match with what looks like an injury that could sideline him for a few weeks (believed to be a thigh problem?), but Roberts, manager Mark Hughes and us (well most of us!) will be hoping it isn't too serious, and early thoughts from Hughes were that he hopes it isn't and is remaining positive.

Hughes told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: "He thinks he has pulled his thigh, so we hope it is not too bad.

"I thought Jason did very well last night. It was a different role for him, but he was causing them problems so it was a shame that he couldn't cap off his performance with a goal.

"But we hope that his injury isn't too serious
."

I know that JR is not as highly regarded by some as he is others, but I still genuinely believe he has a MASSIVE part to play for Rovers, offering us something VERY different from anyone else so I really hope this isn't too serious an injury.

Fingers crossed this isn't too bad for JR as he is a powerhouse that we need to have available.

A tremendous player for us. Hope It's not too bad....

Totally agree dude, shame not everyone else does.
By the way, thanks for the poll I will add that tonight, nice one.

No problem mate. I think that Roberts adds another dimension- and I talk about his strength and electric pace. On the other hand, this season we do have a true headache when it comes to who'll play in attack....
IsraeliRover
Agree with you both on this one! Such a shame, he just needs that opportunity to make the impact he's capable of.

Benni will be away for a month in Janaury, so if JR doesn't get that opportunity before then, you would very much think that he will then won't he?!?!
Hughes Da Man
For me he is still missing way too many chances. I don't know why this is because he ahs the ability. Still let's hope he isn't out for too long.

He adds something different that the other strikers at the club dont have... he is important despite what people say. Before his injury on Wed he looked our most dangerous player,
MikeyGamst
he is important to us but id say mostly wen benni goes to de african cup of nations! good player in my book just wish he would put more of his chances away!
durks de rover
Competition for places if strong isn't it, if nothing else this helps Sparky a little, but then makes it harder for JR as others SHOULD step up to the plate in the mean time?!?!
