Rovers Fear The Day When Brad…

Rovers Fear The Day When Brad…

Vital Blackburn's most recent Poll, suggested by IsraeliRover asked "Blackburn supporter's worst nightmare?" When Brad Friedel calls it a day.

He may be advancing in years but Friedel is showing little or no signs of easing up, as his level of performance refuses to drop, if anything he has got better as the years have gone by, with him seemingly defying the boundaries of age!!! However, there will come a time (hopefully still MANY years away) when he will have to call it a day, either through choice, or Mark Hughes (or someone else) bringing in someone else. But with almost half the vote (41%) this day is the day most Rovers fans fear the most.

Christopher Samba was a cult figure almost as soon as he arrived. He soon turned this cult status into a real key figure status, making himself a permanent fixture in the back four sooner than had been expected, going on from strength to strength. The fear (although unlikely?!?!) that he has a secret release clause would be the next biggest fear (29%).

A return to Rovers of Corrado Grabbi would be the next biggest worry (14%), followed surprisingly low down the order with Sir Alex Ferguson deciding to also call it a day (9%), with it then possible that Hughes could be the man lined up to replace him (which personally I think he will be!) Two broken legs to Steven Reid (7%) completed the poll, and would be the thing fewest would worry about.

So in summary
Friedel: 'I've seen it all and it's about time...' - 41%
Alex Ferguson declares the same - 9%
Samba on SKY: 'I've a secret release clause' - 29%
Reid fell during shower - 2 broken legs - 7%
Guess who's back? Ciccio Grabbi! - 14%

Rovers crashed to a shock, and VERY disappointing 2-0 defeat to Larissa in the UEFA Cup first round first leg on Thursday Evening, but can they overcome this to still qualify? The current poll, suggested by Hughes Da Man is asking, "Can Rovers overturn the 2-0 UEFA Cup deficit?"

As for what you think, cast your vote and why not have your say on the latest polls findings.

I did vote the Bradders option personally, and until quite late in the poll for some bizarre reason I couldn't understand the Fergie option!!!
Then the penny dropped and I though ***** that is a HUGE fear of mine as when Fergie leaves Manure I GENUINELY feel that Sparky will be the man that they will turn to, and I don't think he would say now, and we would understand wouldn't we.

I didn't actually notice this vote at the time, but I'd have gone for Fergie leaving Man U. Think about it, if Hughes did replace him, enivitably Brad would retire not long after and I know I'd rather have Hughes bringing in some bargain keeper who turns out to be amazing than sumone like Souness bringing in a expensive pile of crap.

yeah kev you speak de truth! brad is a hero and the fact that he is so consistent is just great we can always rely on him as he showed midweek keepin de score t two and lst saturday against chelsea!

I have a funny feeling that when Brad retires we could sign Scott Carson who will be tired of waiting at liverpool.... funny thinking but not unbelievable. I really fear for the man that has to follow Big Brad....

great poll by the way... something different.
22/09/2007 17:22:00
Mikey- first of all- thanx- I try to be creative about those polls. Second of all- Carson would be tremendous...But would they give him away?!?! I do think that Brad has at least another 2-3 years by the way he plays. Other candidates would be Boaz Myhill or Kelvin Davis...
22/09/2007 17:50:00
By the way, as far as I know- Friedel runs his own football school in the USA, so maybe he'll decide he wants to dedicate more time to it.....
22/09/2007 17:52:00
Yeah I have heard him tlak about that and also suggesting he would like one last seaosn in America before he hangs up his boots.
22/09/2007 22:08:00
Should change name to Bradburn Rovers when he retires, fair to say he's your single most important player over the past 5 years?
24/09/2007 16:33:00
past 10 years matey... and Brad's academy is in Ohio and branches to a small part in Florida. He has pumped over 8.5 million of his own savings into it... WHAT A GUY.
