Rovers Suffer Nelsen Blow

Blackburn Rovers captain Ryan Nelsen was the double whammy in a VERY disappointing Thursday Evening, as he sustained a hamstring injury as Rovers suffered a shock 2-0 defeat to Larissa.

If defeat was bad enough for Rovers the fact that Nelsen had to be substituted shortly after half time made matters even worse, and he is now scheduled to be out for three or four weeks.

Rovers manager Mark Hughes told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: "It is the hamstring that he had the operation on but we think it is just a bit of scar tissue that has released itself.

"So long term he will be better for that, we hope it is not serious, but he is certainly going to be out in the short term, about three to four weeks
."

What a BITTER blow this is for Rovers, even worse than the result itself! The importance of Christopher Samba returning on Sunday is even more crucial now.

I can take the defeat, Rovers CAN and WILL recover from this, but missing God for three to four weeks (maybe longer you never know!) is a MASSIVE blow.

Well- I still think we don't need to rush Samba back. Hope Zurab's in good shape. Is Henchoz fit?

Missing God is bad enough, missing God and the Wall is frightening.
True, rushing the Wall back would be a bad move, but if he can play this weekend he will need to.

big lift for pompey, I remember Nelsen 2 seasons ago at Fratton, he was immense, and as I recall Redknapp was keen for a while also

I really hope the injury isn't bad. It was such a bad day for Rovers, a return to the European days of old.
