From VBers - Thank You John Terry

I just thought I would take a brief sojourn from my busy schedule on the paper today to say a thank you to John Terry for his part in the Samba injury.

In what was an ugly incident on Saturday evening, Rovers` stalwart giant at the back, Chris 'the machine` Samba, suffered concussion after being volleyed in the head by Chelsea`s Andriy Shevchenko. It was a totally innocent incident, and was simply unfortunate.

The brave Samba divided heroically at the feet of Shevchenko to clear the danger but received a kick to the back of the head. Shevchenko was quick to show his concern leaning over Samba, however, it was the actions of Chelsea and England captain Terry that deserve a mention, hence the article.

He was quickly over moving players out of the way so that physios could get to Rovers` defender as soon as possible. Having suffered from a similarly gruesome incident last season, Terry knows exactly what it feels like and what is needed in that situation.

He showed true professionalism and sportsmanship towards a fellow player and human. His concern was only outshone by his quickness of thought to help out.

From me, roversman, and the rest of Vital Blackburn and indeed all concern with Rovers; a hearty thank you to John Terry.

I'm a Chelsea s/t holder and would also like to add that as I was leaving the ground, the ambulance was just closing it's doors with Samba inside. Despite the disappointment of the result from our point of view, many of those present clapped him as the ambulance passed, and every single person stood aside to allow a swift exit. (Unlike the scousers when Alan Smith broke his leg and they stoned the ambulance!). After what we witnessed last season with Cech, Cudicini and Terry, we know what the lad was going through. Here's to a swift recovery.
