Samba Relief For Rovers

Blackburn Rovers have been boosted by the news that defender Christopher Samba suffered no serious damage after being kicked in the head during the goalless draw at Chelsea.

The 23-year-old Congo international who has been Rovers Player of the Season so far in many people's eyes,, needed hospital treatment after being knocked unconscious at Stamford Bridge, having been caught accidentally by Andriy Shevchenko as he made a brave defensive header.

Heroic Samba was checked over by staff at Charing Cross hospital, but was cleared to return north with the rest of the Rovers squad on Saturday evening.

Manager Mark Hughes told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: 'It was an accident.

'Chris has shown great defensive quality just to put his head in that situation. Probably Shevchenko wasn't aware that he was prepared to do that and that's why he got caught.

'It was a concern at the time. You just want to keep him quiet and relaxed in that situation.'

sasman
Yeah I woudl agree with you there sas. Give him a break like Benni had. I woudl even play Zurab in there. He, in my opinion is a sound defender. thanks for your words merlin. Nice to see the Chelsea contingent further wishing him well.
roversman
It'll be interesting to see if the authorities keep him sidelined for a week or two though!
merlin
With you there sasman. Would be nice to see the monk make an appearance, even if it's only on the bench.
martinr
cheers merlin.... I think he will be good to go against Pompey on Sunday. I wouldnt argue with him though!!!!
MikeyGamst
I think Rovers will need him back next weekend, but he won't be rushed back, but I to wouldn't tell him he wasn't playing. However, Sparky is a hardman, so I'm sure he wouldn't be affraid to tell him so (if it's the right thing to do!)

I dont no HDM.... If Samba told you in the pub that it was a Friday and it was actually a Sunday.... I dont think anyone would correct him.
MikeyGamst
He's a big softy really I bet, but agreed I wouldn't correct him lol!
