Rovers - Above and Beyond All Else

Rovers - Above and Beyond All Else

Vital Blackburn`s most recent poll, asked Would You Rather See Rovers Win The Premiership Or England Win Euro 2008? In a unanimous result it would appear that Rovers fans are not the most patriotic.

Now this is perhaps a slightly unfair question and indeed judgement due to the wide geographical base of Rovers fans. We have dedicated followers of Rovers on this site representing countries such as Australia, Turkey, Ireland and more recently Paraguay.

However, if anything it does test the support afforded, by the majority of us, to England. Why is this? Why would we rather see OUR team do better than the national side?

Well I think there are a few contributing factors, none more pertinent than the disregard and ignorance shown to Rovers by the F.A. and leading English coaches. It seems to have created something of a thick skin on Rovers fans who have become more keen on domestic affairs rather than those of a national standard because Rovers players are never considered.

Granted in recent years we haven`t exactly had world beaters but in Chris Sutton way back when, David Dunn and more recently David Bentley, we have had regular consistent performers who simply were not given a chance.

Few can blame us for looking after our own.

So in summary
Win Premiership - 85%
England Win Euro 2008 - 15%

As for what you think, cast your vote and why not have your say on the latest polls findings…

Can't say I'm surprised with this results considering our foreign fans plus a strong sense of unity from the Rovers. Still we will prob come in for criticism now!!!!

Good article. To be honest, I'd say the result would be roughly the same if it was "country of your choice".

God help McClaren, if English fans of Blackburn prefer a team half filled wih foreign players to succeed rarther than our national side. Friedel, Santa, Samba, Savage, McCarthy Mok, Gamst etc, etc, couldn't care less about England or the English fans, what a set of short sighted, mugs. Wonder how many will stay around blackburn or indeed England when their contracts are up. Ah well as the saying goes "there is one born every minute"

Disgusted, Rovers fans have gone down in my estimation. No wonder England generally has no identity. Although looking at the Blackburn side you can understand it, the teams foriegn so the fans probably are too.

LMAO and all the other 19 premiership sides are bursting to the seams with English talent, the likes of Arsenal; the France B side and Chelsea, with their token 3 englishmen (who by the way, were there when Moaninho took over and were not purchased!) and ManUre with Owen "I was born in Calgary, brought up in Germany, played for Wales U21s and then decided Id like to try England" Hargreaves and their other summer signings such as Anderson and Nani. Give it a rest you bunch to 2 faced wan K ers!

Rovers have paid pittance to the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool for Bentley and Warnock rspectively and they are both good enough to represent England, yet not given a crack of the whip at their clubs because of.....? YUP, A Frenchman (Pires) and a Swede (Ljungberg) and a Norweigian (Riise) Plus we have nurtured and brought through Englands brightest striking option since Owen in Derbyshire. POINT MADE! a$$holes!

Dont want to comment on some of your insults BomBom, even though chris is a w@nker. What I did want to ask blackburn fans is that of the three stars for Holland in the U-21 world cup, 2 of them are making strives at their new clubs. Babel(the self proclaimed gooner) has done well for Liverpool and Drenthe has also done good at Real Madrid. But I havent even seen Marcelo Rigters in one of your 16 man squads. Is he injured? Or does Mark just not fancy him? Cause hes a great talent and the other two stars are thriving but he seems to be stalling.

I think if you ask anyone, they'd put their club above Country. I was speaking to a Leeds fan (there are some left!), and he was of the same opinion. He would rather see Leeds back in the Premiership (an optisimic thought), than England the Euro cup.
